This is exactly what he’s talking about. Sunset Limited with Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel Jackson.
It’s written by the great Cormac McCarthy, based on his play of the same name. The characters are called “Black” and “White” and spend the play arguing about God, destiny, suicide, and nihilism.

We’ll, it’s from 2011, and depending on how old OP is, they could consider that an old movie. And the characters are CALLED Black and White, so I thought (since he only had it described to him) that he might be misremembering that.
