My wife is hiking to an overnight hut in the whites Friday then back down Saturday. I’m starting to wonder if that makes any sense.

NH is not a consumer friendly state. The banking and insurance departments don’t protect consumers and I’m not sure they even think it’s their job to protect consumers. I’m surprised the NH AG has finally done something to actually help consumers. Other than devoting scarce resources to tracking down a bankrupt, judgment proof and downtrodden contractor all the way to Texas, for failing to finish a home remodeling job he was paid $2k for in advance, what has the AG ever done for consumers? God forbid it goes after any business with any lobbying presence whatsoever.

If you want a downtown area and you want sort of an old-fashioned town (meaning some rich, some avg, some poor, some conservatives, some liberals) that’s concord. Ports out of your range, manch and Nashua depending on your own background and expectations you might be a little uncomfortable sending your son to the public schools. If you want quaint old NE small town but lacking diversity maybe Amherst, Milford, Hopkinton. If you want relatively high-driving transient suburban-type get-ahead lifestyle but lacking diversity that’s Bedford (but tough to stay below $500-600k. Re-reading your post I’m thinking you should be comparing Keene with Concord. Keene is a little wealthier probably and there’s a small college.

My son got the same “final notice.” But he never got any earlier notice and the final notice says it is too late to appeal some “determination” that was supposedly made over a year ago that he likewise never received. OP did you ever receive an earlier notice or “determination” from NHES? Incidentally my son only collected benefits for a few months back in 2020 and his claim was completely legit.
