Sanders has been elected over and over to multiple offices by the people of Burlington and later Vermont as a whole. You'd be coming to a very progressive state that would welcome you, just be prepared for a high cost of living.
A few important things to know:
- Be sure to have good winter boots, coat, and tires
- It's called a creemee not soft serve
- It's pronounced "berry" even though it is spelled Barre
Hope to see you in the Green Mountains soon!

You'd be welcomed! I've been to 49 out of the 50 states and I can tell you there is nothing like coming back home to Vermont - nowhere I would rather be.

Reply to What are the best sources for finding out about fun events in and around Burlington/Waterbury? by edjennersmilkmaid
You mention Waterbury specifically so I'd recommend you check out https://discoverwaterbury.com as they do a good job of maintaining a calendar of events.

Reply to Suppose budget was no issue. What inter-town/city rail connections would you build, either within Vermont or from places in Vermont to elsewhere? by DrToadley
Hyperloop along the 89 and 91 and routes 2 and 7.

edit: not exactly rail, I just got carried away with dreaming

You'll want winter tires which will provide both chemical and mechanical grip for all forms of winter weather. Highly recommend you consider Michelin tires as they have the shortest braking distance of all major manufacturers.

You might consider Randolph (exit 4 off the 89) which is in the center of the state. The HS isn't great, but the elementary school is pretty fantastic. It would be about a 45 minute commute to Killington. I do hope you make the move - Vermont will welcome you.
