The phrase, "Choose your battles" comes to mind. With some people, I play the long game, which can be infinitely more satisfying and poignant than an immediate response. In some cases, you might find it's not worth the effort in the first place.

I use this tactic all the time with my narcissistic mother. Anything other than this will prompt a perceived slight on her end, which will turn into a tantrum. "I simply don't have the brainpower or bandwidth for what you need from me right now" then I walk away, and she's left standing there like a deer in headlights. Works every time.

Family planning is NEVER anybody's business except the family that is doing the planning. I never even asked my own sister, I let her tell me when she became pregnant 4 yrs into her marriage, at age 36.
