Reply to comment by Muncie4 in Doc Martens platform boots alternatives? by ThrowawayForToys
It's a fact Dr Martens boots are lower quality than they used to be and are lower quality than solovairs. Go watch some of the videos on the "roseanvil" YouTube channel where an expert dissects them.
Calling facts xenophobia is "boy who cried wolf" shit.

This Grinders brand boot looks like what you want but is way out of your price range: https://www.britboot.co.uk/collections/grinders/products/grinders-roxy-x-black-greasy-leather-derby-boot-with-double-sole-unit-8-eyelet
They also make this cheaper platform boot without a zip (a zip is just an extra point of failure anyway): https://www.britboot.co.uk/products/grinders-taylor-black-10-hole-platform-sole-various-sizes?_pos=1&_sid=29b9fc2f3&_ss=r

Reply to What is considered BIFL if all fabrics pill over time? by Viopit
It doesn't matter what the garment is (jumper, sweater, fleece, whatever) it matters what the fabric is and how high quality the fabric is.
One of the big factors that makes a fabric high quality is strand length and longer strands are more resistant to pilling.
This company markets merino jumpers it claims are "made for life": https://www.asket.com/gb/mens/knitwear/merino-sweater-light-grey
