I can't do audiobooks. They're too slow. Like a book that I can read and retain in 2-3 hours is 9h on an audiobook and I never end up retaining any of it.
So, they aren't for me so I don't do them. I understand that they're a godsend for a lot of people, but I'm not one of those people.

Reply to LPT - Record videos snuggling your pets and telling them how good they are/how much you love them. by shartdeco
I have one of my cat, who has since passed, sitting on my lap and purring as I pet her. I listen to it every so often. It makes me smile. So yes, I agree - record video of your pets, and not just like the special stuff - like the everyday stuff.

Yeah, my mom was a huge John Wayne fan. Every time I see The Quiet Man (which is neither a cowboy movie nor a war movie, btw) it takes me back to my childhood.
Same with Elvis movies, as the local TV station of my childhood showed Elvis movies every Sunday. They're all pretty much the same movie, but it reminds me of my childhood.

Friend of mine was telling me they were at a work training and the person giving the presentation used the iconic Challenger explosion picture to illustrate the point they were making, and you could clearly tell in the room where the age dividing line was, because half the room got very, very quiet, and the other half was asking what they were looking at.
I was 15. I can still picture the classroom with the TV on the rolling cart.

The variant on this joke I heard was that he wanted his wife to put all his money in his coffin with him. She readily agreed that she would do this, and he was happy.
Later when she was asked if she really did it, she said "Of course! It's what he wanted and as his wife I always did as I was asked. But, you know, I'm old, and that much money was more than I could carry. So I wrote him a cheque."

Reply to [OC] When should winter holiday decorations be taken down? by gridnews
Depends on what you count as "the end of the holidays" If it's Christmas, then it was more than a month. If it's New Year's, then it's a month (I usually take them down Jan 31) I just do lights, so no inflatable stuff.
