two things that are much more apparent in the books:
- oaths have meaning and permanence; The Silmarillion is all driven by oaths taken in anger and the ruin they lead to as a result
- Aragorn's ability to envoke the oath signifies his legitimacy as King.
I wasn't a huge fan of how Jackson turned them into a giant glowing pacman army of green.

a cursory glance at the screenplays for The Witcher S2, Falcon and Winter Soldier, She-Hulk, Ms Marvel, Rings of Power, Obi Wan, and The Book of Boba Fett, could have stopped some ~very~ medicore screentime. For the amount of money these studios are paying, they should demand higher quality.
People complain 'oh you're just anti-woke'. Nope, not at all. I'm tired of paint-by-numbers diversity bingo cards being used as a defence mechanism for poor quality screenplays.
The X-Men were the most diverse list of super heroes ever, and people crave their content desperately. House of Dragon played both genders equally sinister and conniving. Even mainstream shows like Law and Order and CSI manage diverse casts where it feels natural and propels content forward not tiktok moments or content created to get a social media hit.

Reply to comment by sacredblasphemies in ‘Night Court’ Revival: John Larroquette on Returning as Dan Fielding by klutzysunshine
Dan Fielding was a cad, which was where the humor came from.
He's not a dated character; he was awful even in the 1980s which is why he was funny. Its a stereotype that has always existed.

he was stuck doing Boston Legal at the time of the recording, he really was disappointed at not being able to attend.
Apparently Larroquette and Richard Moll do not get along though.

Dick Tracy comes to mind.
Warren Beatty, Madonna, Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, Dick Van Dyke, Kathy Bates, Mandy Patankin, James Caan, Catherine O’Hara.
Almost unwatchable by todays standards.

Reply to Margin Call by transformerjay
Margin Call could be a live play, its all about the characters and their interactions. The fact they build the drama around a real event and capture the culture of trading and corporate politics so well is the chef's kiss. It strongly resembles a David Mamet screenplay.
The Big Short is flashy, and it too has its moments. It leans into comedy hard, and there's a ton of wasted time and effort in my mind. Steve Carrell's accent wtf was that about? Christain Bale's scenes were too many and too affected, Brad Pitt could have been any actor, and the whole discovery of real estate in florida was tedious.
