A 19 yr-old Vincent Van Gogh, photographed in 1873. The only image of him that's been verified by the Van Gogh museum. Submitted by dannydutch1 t3_126ltik on March 30, 2023 at 12:42 PM in OldSchoolCool 13 comments 53
A woman in Sarajevo shows off her tattoos in 1912. The image is an early example of a technique called Autochrome, pioneered by the Lumière brothers which allows us to see the early 1900s in colour. I've compiled a large collection of examples of Autochrome via the link in the comments. Submitted by dannydutch1 t3_123qmr2 on March 27, 2023 at 3:37 PM in OldSchoolCool 8 comments 32
A Cough drop salesman on the streets of London, 1877. “One Night Cough Syrup” was sold in the late 1800s, and it contained alcohol, cannabis, chloroform, and morphine. This mixture was available over the counter and promised to eliminate your cough in one night so you could sleep.
