I was chased by locals in pickups once. Like 3 lifted trucks chased my vehicle because one of my passengers had somehow insulted a lady by throwing up along side the road when he got car sick. My friend had puked on their land they said. Even though it was just on the roads edge.

I’ve had both positive and negative experiences on that road, but regardless it’s beautiful out there. No questioning that.

Yeah even in the years I lived there it changed. Became over crowded. I hate to say it but when Covid happened and tourists didn’t come, it was the most special Hawaii had been for me in all the years I’d been there. Dead quiet. Empty beaches. More of a real Hawaii vibe.

I haven’t really had issues with mosquitoes in iao. That said the islands do have them.

Yeah Hawaii flights are usually 5 hours there. With a good tail wind I’ve made it in 4.5, but usually 5.5-6 hours back. Either way worth it. Hawaii is one of the gems out there

Was it chilly or what was that experience? Time of year would impact that. We were there in the late fall. It snowed on us once.

It may be. Been a min since I’ve seen the movie but I felt it was the river Frodo crosses to escape the Uruk-hai in the first film. Sam tries to follow and sinks for a moment.

Great composition OP. Beautiful photo. I lived on Maui for 12 years and never had aligned these falls from this vantage. Thanks for the share. I also like the idea of it being a zen zone. The photo let’s that be real.
