Can't imagine where we'll be in 10 more years of innovation.

Really? So the time has come where a small-scale AI model being smarter than "ordinary" humans is not impressive.

So what, I've spent hours trying to get ChatGPT to write lesbian erotica and I don't regret that. Shove it, OpenAI.

Wait, are you saying that 2/3 of young men never felt lonely in the past year? I didn't know there were that many sluts!

People will be able to search for any kind of sexual fantasy they want, and it will be created by the generative AI on demand if it doesn't already exist. Thus we simply won't be able to stop masturbating.

I'm also not into anal but one really shouldn't have to analyze Sam's facial expressions and tone of voice to see that AGI is very, very close. Just looking back at the exponentially increasing pace of innovation in AI is enough.

In that case maybe educated opinion is worse than the wisdom of the crowds, as the community prediction for AGI was 2040 last year as you can see from the post which is not "10 years away".

May be true for "the people you know", but if you look at the general opinion of people interested in this field, the predictions used to start at the 2040s just last year.

I vehemently disagree. How would it take 10 years for such a transformative technology to be optimized and utilized? Do you have a timeline for that 10 years between "start of the AGI" and its takeoff?

That will never happen, sorry. At most thanks to brain imaging you can create a digital avatar similar to yourself in many aspects, but that avatar will not be a direct extension or substitute for your biological body. And as an aside humanity as a whole will also become redundant and driven to extinction very soon.

I'll give it to you that emotions in TTS are difficult, though I still say what is needed is not a novel algorithm but an enhanced version of today's algorithms. For example the AI that will generate the movie's scenario can also add marks at the text that will indicate the correct emotion or punctuation, and I'm pretty convinced we can have a TTS algorithm that can reasonably abide by those in three years.

Take a pen and paper (or open your favorite drawing software). With a top-down approach progressively identify the steps needed for fully automated movie generation, until you have the smallest ingredients. Think about what kind of tech is needed for each of them. You will notice that no paradigm-breaking discovery is needed - all of them are just advanced versions of existing tools and technology. Now extrapolate for when we can actually get to that level, using the recent speed of development in AI. I'm quite sure you won't be thinking it will take decades.
