I agree. Had several experiences last year looking to buy our first home where we were outbid by cash offers and then the homes were the AirBnB’d.

Can’t compete with cash offers as a first time home buyer.

Whatever happens STR needs to be addressed appropriately. Them alone and those that invest in them are the biggest blockers for first time home buyers right now.

Sadly I’m not surprised. I know people and also been personally burdened by landlords increasing rent way beyond reasonable means for the local average income.
