You have the rights you get when you agree to the terms of service. The alternative is taking your money elsewhere or not getting the thing, because it's more profitable for game distributors to operate this way.

The only way to change it is for gamers at large to refuse to participate in the system, which the majority don't really care about.

Do I care about it? Nope. Do I know people who do? Sure. I know a guy whose hobby includes collecting old hardware, like pentium 2 hardware, for the truly authentic retro gaming experience. I know others who run vms or make patches for old games to work on modern systems.

You're not gonna stop the machine, may as well get on the one that offers/creates solutions, even if you have to run it.

Trust the brand, not the store (unless it's a brand store). Reevaluate regularly.

Crock pot, instant pot, zojirushi, robot coupe, vitamix, kitchenaid professional (can you tell I'm big into kitchen gadgets?), arcteryx, kirkland signature, milwaukee tools, anything with a honda engine in it, precor exercise equipment, rogue fitness gear, samsung computer chips and displays, iqair purifiers, speedqueen washing machines, herman miller chairs, etc.

BIFL quality stuff tends to cost more. If businesses only stocked expensive BIFL stuff, they'd lose out on a lot of money from the cheaper/poorer demographic, so they sell cheaper stuff too.

I got a couple blankets from the factory store in Woolrich PA around 8 years ago, same style but different color. Mine's gone around the world with me on my army adventures. The other's been in my dad's boat on countless fishing trips. Both are still in fantastic condition.

Holes and dry spells aren’t a thing so long as the account is open. I have 14 credit cards (sign up bonus collecting), I use 1 on a regular basis, maybe 3 in a given month (depends on perks and types of purchases). The rest rarely if ever get used but consistently report “paid as agreed” to the credit agencies every month.

IF you can be responsible with it and pay it off every month, the credit card should be your first choice to pay for things because of the protection and perks (if any). For example, if someone skims your debit card and steals from your bank account, it’s a pain to fix that takes time. If someone skims your credit card and racks up false charges, you simply tell the card company you didn’t make those purchases and you don’t lose a cent.

Eh, while it's better than nothing, I certainly won't be replacing my PLB or sat messengers until it proves it's worth.

Honestly, I probably won't ever replace the PLB. There's no screen to worry about, it's guaranteed waterproof, only have to replace the batteries every 3-5 years, operation is 1: extend antenna 2: push button.

Please folks, if you’re going into the wilderness without cell service, get a PLB or satellite messenger. This woman could have had help on the way to her exact location the moment she was injured if she had one.

Edit: yes, I know apple and others are coming out with satellite messaging on phones, but that technology is brand new. PLBs and SPOT/InReach/Zoleo type devices are proven technology with thousands of lives saved. As an avid hiker/backpacker/camper, I personally want my last-resort-before-death option to be a proven piece of equipment that is dead simple to use.
