Anyone who says “I’m too smart to like this” is, in fact, stupid.

I was probably 9 and my pops got me a copy of Terminator 2, I wore that vhs out in like a month! One time at the video store I told him I wanted to rent a scary movie so he rented The Shining, I was probably 12? Maybe 13? Scared the god damn hell out of me. Was terrified of seeing those twins down my hallway for what felt like a year.

I love the world building in this film. Seemingly throwaway lines, like when the goon asks Vincent “where do I know you from?” and Vincent coldly responds “Vienna” really expand this universe. It’s a fascinating world the characters exist in, these black ops intelligence guys who, after the end of the Cold War, now have nothing left. Fascinating.

Same, when he says “don’t you see, I never left” it was like oh shit! And then the radio news report VO we hear about how the extremism Sinn Fein leader Seamus was just killed and opened the door for renewed peace talks, jeez how did I miss that?! The case was just his in, all he ever cares about was getting Seamus to expose himself so De Niro could kill him.

The 1998 Kurt Russell action/sci-fi film Soldier is a spin off film to Blade Runner.

I prefer the original but T2 is still an excellent film

Didn’t they just add a category for “best popular film” or something absurdly stupid like that?
