Reply to Question about school by SnaxFax-was-taken
Traditional K-12 schooling hasn't worked for a while, not since we moved away from factory jobs. With AGI, it'll be useless.

Reply to There's wild manipulation of news regarding the "AI research pause" letter. by QuartzPuffyStar
Even if it was signed, what then? A.I research reaches a little rest in the West, okay, but that's specifically the West. Neither China, for example, nor smaller groups will cease their research, so I'm not convinced that the letter's purpose is really to stop A.I research universally.

Reply to AI and Schools by SnaxFax-was-taken
I agree wholeheartedly with this, though I am unsure of how the people who actually control curriculum in schools will receive these types of ideas.

Reply to The Limits of ASI: Can We Achieve Fusion, FDVR, and Consciousness Uploading? by submarine-observer
Well, it's not quite known to us what the true limitations of physics are. AI may see whole new systems that we haven't even thought about, but it also may not, so as of right now it's mostly speculation.

In the U.S, absolutely not. It's still mostly pointless rambles from one side targeting the other. It's unlikely that there will be more discourse until it really starts to infiltrate their lives, in which case there will likely be more panic than meaningful discourse.

Can you explain why the US must be the dominant force on everything? It's not particularly like it's intrinsically better than any other country.

It's very good to see things like this; concentration of AI in large companies is definitely not what is needed.

Reply to This concept needs a name if it doesn't have one! AGI either leads to utopia or kills us all. by flexaplext
Well, it doesn't quite need to be one of these two. As an example, ASI can decide that we aren't worth staying for and leave, never to be seen again. We don't know the minds of superintelligent entities. But, as a name, perhaps something like wagers on infinity.
