That’s greater center city, not the city of Philadelphia. Greater center city doesn’t include west, north, and most of south Philly

Everyone should have housing but nobody is entitled to a fancy brand new apartment a couple blocks from a transit station. That my friend, is a luxury.
Rent is extremely cheap in the suburbs like Norristown if you can’t afford this, still commutable to the city.

It’s always greedy corporations and developers of course. I mean if a developer built this building in the middle of Ohio, they would definitely be able to charge the same rent.

It’s not silly if you account for it in design. Looking at the base of the new building it looks like they are elevating it substantially.

Mass shootings, though scary, account for a very small percentage of gun violence and fatalities. Take 2022 for example, there were a total of 20,138 firearm deaths (excluding suicide).
74 (0.36%) of those deaths were from mass shootings.
The media sure does a great job of highlighting the real issue.

I think it’s a good idea. Unfortunately I don’t think it will stop thugs who illegally possess guns.

Stores closing or cutting hours really takes away a major amenity of city living. It’s what happens when our city leadership makes crime legal I guess.

Hypothetically, if there was an indigenous tribe called the Coali that burned coal to survive as a tradition, would you still support protecting them from wind mills?

So an indigenous tribe’s right to herd reindeer is more important than averting a climate crisis? This just shows it was never about solving climate change, but being politically correct.
If an indigenous tribe wanted to burn coal all day, should we respect that and not build green energy on their land? Absolutely ridiculous.

I’m curious where is this apartment building? I am very surprised a brand new residential building would not have washer and dryer connections in its units.
Unless it’s an old 60s/70s building that was rehabbed?

700 feet would be 50 stories+
The last two towers to meet that were the Laurel (which was planned in 2014 and still not complete) and Comcast 2 (which was an a rated credit tenant - Comcast - signing a long term lease for most of the building).
Sorry but, we are 20+ years away from another supertall.

There is a glut of residential supply coming to Philly over the next 36 months, and weak economic / job growth projections. I appreciate your optimism but a supertall isn’t happening.

None of those commercial buildings will move forward without corporate tenant pre-leases. Given that the office market is not doing well, I doubt we will see any of those super tall commercial buildings anytime soon.
