I was behind them too on 495. It slowed down traffic for sure - good for safety. However, once they exit the freeway you have a situation where now traffic is lumped together, they have just exited the freeway and the roadway ahead is thus untreated. This can lead to a situation where people are way too bunched together in slippery conditions. I understand that it is everyone’s responsibility to drive safety, but not everyone does.

I would much prefer a staggered approach by the salt trucks. If they leave one lane open traffic can slowly work through and there will be less bunched traffic on untreated roads. I do understand that the salt trucks probably do this for their own safety.
