It’s gonna be hectic. For most games, expect (car and foot) traffic 1-2 hours before and after a game. If you can work from home, definitely plan for it!

Reply to Utilities cost for 1 bedroom apartment by hotashami
FWIW I currently live in a 550 sqft, recently renovated building. BGE bills have been around $50-80/month (living room/reptile room set to 78F so I might be an outlier). And my water/utilities is included into my rent and it’s a flat $20.
“Utilities included” doesn’t seem to be a common thing though, at least when I was apartment hunting?

Vouching for the other comment that recommended the Baltimore Tattoo Convention. Great way to network with local artists (as well as regional and national ones) and find an artist that can do the style you're looking for.

Have a nice dinner at Topside in Mt. Vernon! The view of the neighborhood is amazing.

Reply to Mount Vernon - what area is best? by DaleDuzit
I appreciate you asking this since I’ve been casually looking for apartments in the area. I love living in Mt. Vernon so far, but man, the prices are/can be high.

Parking. It’s either street or a bougie, secure, overly expensive garage (I caved and paid for the latter).
I didn’t expect this to be divisive (if that’s the right word?). I just really like driving around the city and going on spontaneous drives so I’d like a secure parking area, one block from my apartment :’)

No Land Beyond might be up your alley too if you're interested in table-top games. But it's ~2 miles north from the general Mt. Vernon area. They have events and a very casual vibe. Also, their drinks and food were great and so were the staff. As someone that likes video games and anime, this place was a great start at meeting people.

That’s insane the way management is going about it.
I currently pay $1476/mo renting a 1BR/1BA (550sqft) and $195/mo for garage parking separate from my building. I’ve inquired at different apartments near me and the general price in the 450-700sqft range is typically <$1650. That being said, $1800+ is crazy high for your studio.

Reply to How walkable is the Mt Vernon Area? by juicycasket
Incredibly walkable. My walks are usually from the Inner Harbor (near the Maryland Science Center) all the way to the University of Baltimore.
Takes around 1-2 hours to explore (if walking the straight shot) and there’s little side streets all along the way that’ll get you to restaurants and cafes.
It might get a little hectic (eg. wider roads, more traffic) once you’re near Penn Station, but still doable.

There’s a handful a few blocks away from each other (Streets Market, Po Tung Oriental Grocery, Abinet Ethiopian Market, J&R Food Market, Mt. Vernon Supermarket, Eddie’s of Mt. Vernon - just to name a few).

I only moved here recently. So far my bill went from $55 to $83.
I have my heat up to 78F in one room (I own reptiles). But I feel like it wouldn’t equate to that much of a jump especially since I’ve kept it on constantly since October 2022.

Water - $20-26 flat. BGE - I’ve paid around $50-80. I’m conservative with usage, but also own reptiles so it hikes it up a bit.
This is for a 550 sqft apartment with a ductless/room-by-room heating/cooling system.
