Thanks! I'm glad you went crispy clean--no caffeine! I find it hard to write code and get in the zone without a little extra oomph.... But you are right, now is always a good time to try and cut back. Unfortunately I just moved in with someone who has a really nice espresso machine :(

Oh, I envy you. I hate being a slave to the bean.

Next year also track the number of cups of coffee, and then ass-ess the consistency of the stool. Roll it between your fingers to get a good sense of consistency if you don't already have a suitable device in your bathroom.

Yeah, that show is great! Nikola was a great downfall as well--Milton was so pathetic. I enjoy the trickle trickle as the financial reporting community fleshes out the details in these stories as well. GameStop was a fucking blast and a perfect storm.
If you have some time for a great (and hilarious) read about FTX's fraud, you'd love this blog post. Written by a market maker who specialized in the Vietnamese Dong and it's insightful.

Oh yeah for sure! What size candles are you usually looking at? I sure hope you're staring at a good monitor and sitting in a chair if you are staring at it all day long.
For me, aside from closing out a good trade, the most enjoyable part of the whole game is reading up on all the corporate dramas. Man I love a good fraud (FTX -- you darling!), the downfall of a company or nation that gorged itself on debt and crumbled, huge bets that failed. Keeps me coming back.

I go through periods of heavy trading and periods of little to no trading and low amounts of risk on the table. Some years I churn through tens of millions in notional value traded and some years less than 100k. Was short most of the year and recently closed those out, leaving just a few core holdings long.
The market is pretty boring right now so I'm more than happy to spend my brain power elsewhere. Trading takes up so much mental capital, especially when working in markets that trade 24 hrs a day, or when you carry an uncomfortable amount of risk into geopolitical events.

I'm still holding one of my earliest positions -- AAPL at split adjusted $19.75
Other first trades were BRK/B and some penny stocks that went to zero
Also went long BP during the Deep water Horizon.
Have some DIS stock certificates that are 35 yrs old with an unknown cost basis

Seems like a good compromise, but I can totally see how frustrating that is when there is waste of any kind, food waste is particularly egregious when there is so much hunger around. I hope you're doing much better in the subsequent years!

Thanks for the extra info! Would it be appropriate to ask for other 'cull' vegetables as well?

Baby carrots are just mechanically processed larger carrots! How's that for mildly interesting?

I use TD Ameritrade's ThinkOrSwim platform for over a decade and it's great, and we were bought by Schwab... It's a great platform, but I am strongly considering switching for the cheaper commissions and fees on options and futures contracts

Good point. Next time I hit up my bean broker I'll pick up some beans to blend a half-calf. Typically when I try to get on the wagon I'll cycle to tea and cut back on that (until I find myself drinking tea in the shower)
