Reply to Moms for Liberty Bucks County Leaders Think Public Schools Are Trying to Bring Pedophilia Into the Classrooms by Open_Veins_8
While it is easy and understandable to get angry at these people.. instead feel blessed that it is them and not you. I cannot fathom living even a single moment in the world these people think they live in.
While this could be just people making up bull to get what they want.. I think it is far more likely these people have lost touch with reality and actually believe what they are saying. That must be torture.
So I won't get mad at them.. but instead feel sad for them. I hope they get the help they need.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out decades from now that Pedophiles were the ones trying to ban sex education and using Fox News' stupid viewers as pawns. I mean, you can't play your secret special game with a kid who knows that it isn't a game and that you ought to be in jail and that one word of this to anyone is all it takes to make it stop.
I myself would rather be a parent of an educated kid than an easy target kid. Strange times we live in.
bdschuler t1_j97f3m8 wrote
I grew up in the country, but moved to the suburbs as a kid. Laws, rules, and regulations vary from area to area, so you will need to research whatever area you plan to live in. So what may be required in one place may not in another. That said, here are some things to be aware of.
If you have public roads bordering or running through your property.. you may need to maintain all bordering trees, etc... as to not risk one falling on a passing car, etc.. Some places have a crew that does it.. and they just bill the property owner. Others require you to do it. And some don't require it at all. But it is certainly something to know before buying.
If you put up NO TRESSPASSING signs on the trees that border a public road or public access way (be it a nature reserve, public park, etc), you should get no surprise visitors. But that said...
Almost everyone who lives in very rural areas owns a gun. It isn't more dangerous than living in a city.. but being so isolated and away from police, makes people tend to buy a firearm.
As for running into errant hunters or other people.. it really depends on location. But as long as you have your signs up.. it should be pretty rare.
Should be interesting to see other comments and see how it changed over the years.

Not sure anyone can ever really understand something like this. It is heartbreaking and my condolences to family and friends. This one sentence stood out to me, "Both parents were ordained ministers". To me it just seems to add to the sadness and thought of how absolute dire this family's situation had to have become.

Wish this news would enter more mainstream consciousness. For every person's clueless, DRILL, DRILL, DRILL post on the internet about wanting to drill in a protected area, I often explain how before they drill in pristine new areas, maybe they should finish the areas they abandoned. Most people are unaware these abandoned wells even exist.
Seems many people have no clue how often they open and close wells based on the economic swing of gas prices. They just assume they pump out all the gas and then clean up the area when they leave. They have no idea they start wells when the price is high and then skip town, and the damage they caused, the moment prices drop.

Lucky enough to only have had only one Unemployement hearing in my entire life and the Judge got it completely wrong.
Case before mine was a young pregnant lady and the Judge was bending over backward to make sure she got unemployment by asking leading questions and if she went down the wrong path, he would follow up with a question that basically told her to revise her answer. It was such a sham.. and her case clearly sounded like she should NOT have gotten unemployment because it was based on her being let go because of attendance or something like that.
Then mine starts, and the Judge is horrible as hell. Treats me like shit and right away I can tell he is going to side against me regardless of what I say. You could even see his demeanor change in his face from the smiling at the young pregnant lady to scowling at me as his voice tone changed as well.
After the case, I figured this Judge had a running tally going. He would let one person get unemployment, then go against one, etc.. and the pregnant lady simply beat me.
When I got the notice I lost the case, I wasn't surprised at all.
I learned then to NEVER work for a shitty company and if you do, quit as soon as possible. The company I had worked for had been sued numerous times for misdeeds including employee mistreatment, lack of payments, etc. Soon as I knew that was happening, I should have quit on the spot. But instead, I worked there like a fool for years until it was my time to be mistreated. But like you, I was surprised to find out how little Unemployment court really cares about getting it right.

Depends on what you mean by "great" restaurants. If you mean expensive, fancy, highly rated and in magazines... then the Lehigh Valley, Bethlehem/Allentown would be ideal.
See Bolete, https://www.boleterestaurant.com/dinner-menu
House and Barn https://www.houseandbarn.net/
Blue https://www.bluegrillhouse.com/
And Zest as examples. https://www.zestbethlehem.com/
Ample parking.
If you just mean good cheap food and just want a more rural area, we got that too. Be it a diner, recommend Bethlehem Diner, or a unique roadside stand, we got it all.
On the plus side, we have a covered bridges nearby, historic buildings, and the must see once in your lifetime to believe it, Steelstacks.. if they want to see something before heading back home. https://images.fineartamerica.com/images/artworkimages/mediumlarge/1/steel-stacks-at-night-michael-dorn.jpg

Reply to Is Pennsylvania bad place to live? What do you like about living in this state? by [deleted]
As people said, it really depends on WHAT part of PA you are moving to.. here is my area:
Lehigh Valley - Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton area
Do you see a lot of dilapidated buildings everywhere?
Not everywhere, but usually in our historic districts. Some of our 1700 era houses are just ruins, lol. Any dilapidated building NOT historical, is usually only there because the owner is holding out for millions before allowing it to be demolished and converted into high end condos or stores, etc.. When land value is so high as it is in the Lehigh Valley.. few old buildings are left to rot without good reason.
How safe is it?
As safe as anywhere in the US. Just keep an eye out for 6 year olds with loaded handguns
and you should be safe.
How are people attitudes towards minorities?
In my area, we tend to have a strange way of keeping our racists all living near each other. So we have some racist areas, but that makes the majority of the other areas 100% non-racist. For example, in the Lehigh Valley, one town is a well know racist hotbed (Catasauqua) whereas everywhere else is super accepting of all people.
What do you guys enjoy doing?
Everything and anything. You got the local rivers, lakes, waterfalls, and hiking trails. But you are so close to NYC, Philly, and even Washington DC, that you can do pretty much anything you ever wanted or imagined. Location, Location, Location.

Burn your house to the ground and pour salt all over the ground. Sorry to say, but your house appears to be infested with lovely Rabbits.
Sure.. rabbits are nice to look at and lovely.. but say goodbye to any carrots in your area.
Just kidding.. but yeah.. I got a ton of those myself and they are always rabbits. But it is possible it is something else... but my money is on Rabbits.
P.s. If you see a baby rabbit.. try to control your emotions.. they are so amazingly cute they can make you want to scream.

Could be an inside job. Why would someone go after his signs when he has very little to no chance to win? Sounds like a last ditch effort to take a chance to draw maybe some attention? But there are plenty of crazy people out there willing to break the law regardless of political views, so anything is possible.
But yeah people.. don't break the law.. don't go after political signs.. be the America you want to live in and don't stoop to the lows used by others.

Yeah, I find it silly that EVERYTHING from rigging elections to a deep state that they think they are fighting against.. is actually what they are fighting for. Sadly, they will never know what they did either.. as the truth will disappear forever now behind a curtain of control. Elections will just be a show and already decided, laws and court cases will look authentic, but behind the scenes decisions will be made by a select few. Inflation? There will be no inflation and any suggestion of such will get one fired from government, etc..
I think Maher is right in that they won't change everything overnight.. it will be like frogs in a pot slowing going to boil so they don't notice.
It is what is it is though. Some of us tried to stop it. But it just was going to happen regardless. History always repeats and we are powerless to stop it.
Anyway, Reddit for PA.. so not really relevant. Just figured I would let OP know everything has already been lost. In a few years that sign will seem quaint to what will be likely on signs in PA by then. You think Fuck Joe Biden is bad.. we ain't seen nothing.

Not surprising. The more rural the more common a sight like this is.
Bill Maher, who called correctly Trump's refusal to leave office, his fake electors, attempts to change the vote, etc.. stuff everyone else said would never happen, but he has been right about everything lately.. last night called it. American Democracy is dead. Hope you are like me and old enough to just watch the madness unfold. If you are young.. good luck. History seems to suggest a really rough road lies ahead.

Probably because you know anything can happen and also are aware that there are plenty of people who vote to destroy this country as a joke.
I always say if someone invents a phone booth that cures cancer and puts it out on a street corner.. some idiot would destroy it within a week just to show up those cancer patients and get a laugh. It is the society in which we live unfortunately.
Take solace though in that you would not be alone in thinking it would be among the worst things to ever happen to PA. A large majority would think that.. though only a fraction will actually take the time to vote to stop it from happening.
So your fear, uncertainty, and sick stomach will be common to many people living in PA come election night, mine included. The only good news.. one way or the other, it is almost over.

Well yeah, that was their whole problem. He is offensive enough that some people LOVE him and were willing to turn out for him in the primaries. Other candidates split the vote and didn't have as enthusiastic following of people who turned out.
The Republican party went so far as to beg people not to vote for him before the primary. So he won because of the situation. But his following is very small and thus, was out of the race before it even started. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/05/10/pennsylvania-republicans-stop-mastriano-00031607

You are very welcome. Yeah, the whole PA Gov race has been basically written off as over before it really even started.. so nobody is really doing any coverage, news stories, etc.. and even when they try.. it becomes a soapbox for just one person yelling conspiracy theories as even he knows he has no chance so he just wants his 15 mins of fame. So sadly you really can't find much information anywhere.
Glad I could answer why for you though and thank you for voting.

Where have you been?
From the web:
"Shapiro wants traditional debates. Mastriano says they’re unfair since they typically involve media representatives who hug Democrats and “trap” Republicans. He proposed debates run by the campaigns. Shapiro said, uh, no.
So, now Mastriano offers a “fair” debate. At a time and place of his own choosing, Oct. 22, Penn Harris Hotel, Camp Hill. With a moderator of his own choosing, Mercedes Schlapp, married to Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union which runs CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Committee. She’s a former White House aide and 2020 campaign aide to Mastriano-endorser, Donald Trump."
Basically one guy, Mastriano has a snow balls chance in hell of getting elected. Even die hard Republicans don't want to vote for a guy so filled with hate that he hates just about every group out there. Meanwhile, Democrat Josh Shapiro has been the PA Attorney General since 2017 and has an impressive record for fighting crime. It is the most lopsided race in decades and thus why nobody is really talking about it.

Clearly the mistake was made at the start. The idiot Superintendent should have just cancelled all the religious clubs. But by being an idiot and not, she will cost the taxpayers in this district millions now in lawsuits, will most likely lose her job, and will have trouble finding a new one. Make no mistake, they will lose in court and it will be very costly and this will be a black mark on her record.
How she made this mistake is beyond me. Any simple Google search would have told her the correct answer and why NOT to go the route she did. But she took a stance and that stance is going to cost her dearly I am afraid.
All that is left now is to watch it play out in court and see how much taxpayers are going to be on the hook for and how long she lasts before she is let go.
