Reply to LPT: If your car is ever submerged in water most headrests will fully come off and you can use the metal pointed ends to break a window. by [deleted]
This is not true. Not all cars have detachable headrests. Not all detachable headrests are sharp. Not all sharp detachable headrests are sharp enough to break a window.
If you’re concerned about being trapped in a sinking vehicle, buy a spring loaded car window breaker. They’re specifically designed for the task, dirt cheap and normally come with a built-in seatbelt cutter.
LPT: keep your window breaker/belt cutter in the centre console so that you can reach it if your seatbelt release button becomes jammed. Bonus points if you can keep it in a lidded compartment so that you don’t lose it in a rollover.
