You're right. They also operate in NC.
Duke energy also operates in NC - and they are doing great. But ever since Youngkin got in office he has interfered with Dominion Energy. Youngkin is not good for Dominion Energy - and that's not good for customers, stockholders, and Dominion Energy management.

Generally it is best to find the job - then find housing. You can always visit Arlington & nearby environs. But you will want to minimize the time you spend in traffic and the amount you spend on housing. And live near the best schools you can afford- close to your work.
I live in Arlington and love the car free living BTW. But can't imagine living without a car for a family of four.

Dominion energy stock price has tumbled in the past weeks. Analysts are slashing their price targets.
By way of contrast, Duke energy has risen and analysts are upping their price targets.
Virginia seems to be showing other states how to ruin a business.

Yes - far too many people are distracted by their phones when driving and walking.

Excellent article that highlights how three US State Department staff/bicyclists were killed in DC by cars in 2022. There are over 900 comments so far.
On July 27, 2022 DCist posted about Traffic Safety Advocates holding a protest at the Wilson Building where they advocated for specific changes to make roads safer.
I am afraid to ride my bike in Arlington or DC and walk instead - which is also risky as drivers often do not yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk even when pedestrians are walking with the light.

NY Times features this in their 11/27/2022 article, The Exceptionally American problem of Rising Roadway Deaths, that includes a mention of these bicycling deaths:
Sarah Debbink Langenkamp . . . was, improbably, the third foreign service officer at the State Department to die while walking or biking in the Washington area this year. She was killed in August in suburban Bethesda, Md. Another died in July while biking in Foggy Bottom. The third, a retired foreign service officer working on contract, was walking near the agency’s headquarters in August. That is more foreign service officers killed by vehicles at home than have died overseas this year, noted Dan Langenkamp, Ms. Langenkamp’s husband and a foreign service officer himself.
“It’s infuriating to me as a U.S. diplomat,” he told the rally in her honor, “to be a person that goes around the world bragging about our record, trying to get people to think like us — to know that we are such failures on this issue.”
The article has over 900 comments at the time of this comment.

I was walking in Georgetown today and OMG it was hard to cross the street, with the walk light, in the crosswalk, without being hit. Drivers were blocking the intersections, they were frustrated, road rage - and I had to weave between car bumpers to cross Wisconsin Ave.

Fair point. From Google maps, best route with fewest lights:
The View/Rosslyn to Amazon HQ = 8 minutes
The View/Ballston to Amazon HQ = 13 minutes and tolls if taking 66
aurora4000 t1_itkv37y wrote
Rosslyn is easier from a commuting perspective. The orange line trains can be packed in the mornings but at Rosslyn you can take the blue line directly to work. Driving: Rosslyn to Amazon: GW Parkway or 110 - no lights.
You probably won't need two cars. You can live carfree along the metro lines. Street parking is difficult - if not impossible - pick a place that offers parking.

East West Coffee is good. Tatte's is good but hard to get seating because it is always crowded.
Rako's Coffee Roasters is okay but tiny.
