I’ve found It’s not the grey in winter that gets me, it’s the grey from March through June! In winter, I get a sun recharge skiing but if you don’t do that check out snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. The best decision I made moving here is to get a really good breathable rain suit and go out with outdoor plans no matter what the weather calls for. Also, it gets sunny in Eastern WA when western WA is still gloomy and there is great hiking and I like the bike trail on old RR bed from Cle Elum up through Roslyn and Ronald.

I’ve stayed in a couple McMenamins (Troutdale & Centralia) and loved their character. The one in Centralia right next to RR tracks do that was noticeable and I see the one in Kalama is as well but I’ll bet the River side is awesome.

You are correct I was referring to the year.

I’m baffled the actual DOL office couldn’t help! Maybe they are just for licenses?

What about ordering replacement plates? (Cheaper then that tow the Redmond police offered.). I’m certain sure those independent licensing offices have month and year stickers because I’ve gotten brand new plates (with month and year stickers) there for cars I’ve bought and transferred ownership.

Bring some kindling and paper and/or a small axe. A lot of times those bundles you get at campgrounds are spilt logs and don’t have enough kindling to start the 1/4 rounds in rain. I camp with a 20x30 tarp and rope so I can tie it at a slope to trees and make a “rain shade” over the table and/tent. The slope is key to let the water run off and not collect. I’ve been camping in pouring rain this way happily playing cards with my friends.

Worth it? Dunno about you but I love the boat ride! Where’s your value proposition about that part? I either roll up and right into the boat (score), roll up and see it just leaving (so sad) or roll into the waiting lot for 2-3 boats (in the summer). No matter the scenario, I always get a boat ride and don’t have to drive for a while. Once I’m committed I never bail (because boat rides) but there was one Thanksgiving I thought it would be easy towing our trailer onto the ferry to go camping along Agate Beach but there was a “Huge” line so we went around and took the ferry home. There was another time I was golfing at McCormick woods and it was late and I was hot and I didn’t want to deal with traffic so I took the Southworth-Vashon-Fauntleroy and it was glorious and cool.

Not sure how to send the “link”…I took a couple screen shots of 405@520 but if you have the “other” WSDOT app you can go to the traffic map and then zoom in on this area. There are so many cameras right at that interchange they just put a number in a circle and you don’t see the camera icons until you zoom in closer

I tried sending the screen shots via Reddit messaging but they fail to send (or you just got them 5 times, lol)

There are so many cameras missing!

I’ve had the “other”WSDOT app (the one with the traffic map, ferry info, mountain passes, border waits) for years and was just looking at the traffic map and all the cameras. Maybe this one is just using DOT cameras and not City or county cameras.

One day I went from Western WA to Eastern WA to go trout fishing and on the way home I got a speeding ticket I wanted to get out of.

I went to the website www.nolo.com for legal information (and not just random people’s opinions). Here’s what I learned and how I beat it:

A ticket is like any other legal proceeding and you are entitled to due process. That means the same rules that apply to any trial apply here. Specifically, you have the right to see any evidence the prosecution has (called discovery). So I immediately sent a letter to the prosecutor (this was in Kittatas County) via certified mail (so I would have proof they received it). I requested copies of the traffic report or any write up by the officer or other evidence.

I also read that you should always take a ticket without making a big deal out of it so you are not memorable (I blew that part). As for requesting reports on the model and calibration of the radar gun, my fuzzy memory is they usually calibrate daily so this can be a waste of time/effort and just piss a judge off.

The prosecutor has 30 days to reply. My court date was something like 31 days after the letter was received so I was cutting it close. But I never got a reply by my court date.

I went to court and when it was my turn I asked for the case to be dismissed because the prosecutor had failed to reply to my request for discovery. I gave the judge a copy of my letter and the documentation they had received it (printed off the USPS website). No officer was present. Case dismissed

I’ve only written one license plate on ours and yesterday we took my wife’s car and forgot it but luckily Jan 1 is a “free day” at state parks so all good. I also have multiple cars and left the second spot blank in case we took a different car. I’m going to use a pencil if I need it.

Closer to the water the less likely snow.

Fly into SeaTac and take A loop from Seattle Hurricane Ridge to Crescent Lake, a hike in the temperate Hoh rain forest, the rugged beaches at Kalaloch, Ruby Beach and Moclips and a flyby through Aberdeen where Kurt Cobain was from (and a cool Star Wars store there) would give you the flavor of the Olympic National park (one of 3 located within 100 miles from Seattle).
