I think typically they will have multiple people pace over the course of a marathon, especially for faster times. Can anyone confirm

For the more prestigious and high paying tech jobs (FAANG+, etc) it's going to be significantly easier to break into with a prestigious CS degree compared to a no name one.
This person's results say to me though they were either applying to roles/companies way out of their league, or they have limited experience for even a new grad, or they have a bad resume. I would assume they would've had to apply to 10-20% of the amount of jobs to get similar results.
