It’s also super cheap and easy to do. The one exception I’ve seen is my older Apple mouse, where seemingly for aesthetic reasons the batteries are in parallel ( Also means you can take one out at a time to charge, which is kind of nice but mostly pointless at the same time)

Reply to TIL that in WW2, a Marine Corps Corsair pilot used his propeller to chew off the tail of an enemy aircraft after his guns jammed, while under fire from the enemy plane's tailgunner. The enemy plane crashed but the Corsair pilot made it back to base, receiving the Navy Cross for his actions. by hipster_deckard
A longer article someone else linked here mentioned he landed with severe damage including two very bent propeller blades. Also the others in his wing were in the same fight.

I know it’s a terrible idea but the kid in me still wants someone to skip the middle step and build a plane like Fireflash

Reply to comment by RaisinEducational312 in TIL in the 1920s, Coco Chanel accidentally got a tan, and helped inspire the trend of sunbathing. Soon "sunlight therapy" was prescribed for almost every ailment from fatigue to tuberculosis. Before this, tanned skin was associated with the lower classes who work outside, and fair skin was revered. by Pfeffer_Prinz
It’s not simply sunlight; Australasia has a combination relatively high UV light levels, clear skies, and a high proportion of people with pale skin compared to other sunny parts of the world (more here). Especially in summer and unlike the UK a pale person like me can easily burn in the sun in as little as ten or fifteen minutes- you can actually feel it start to happen as soon as you step outside.
