I recommend your proximity schools. You will have 2 and you get a lottery bonus to enroll (Amigos is never a proximity school, FYI).

The advantage of a proximity school is that there will be more kids within walking distance of the school, so when your kid makes friends, it will be easier for them to walk over which is nice.

Do you know which schools are proximity for you?

From this data, you would be pretty much assured of getting into Peabody if you make that your first choice (since they are expecting at least four spots for people without any bonus points). You are not assured of getting into G&P.

They project 19 spots for people with proximity bonus at G&P, and in the previous year there were 32 folks with proximity bonus that applied.

I rather hate this way of phrasing the argument. Basically, every town and city does this. Free cash represents money that was allocated but not spent. And it is typically used against the next years budget.

If we want rental relief, that should just be put in the budget at whatever level is appropriate and funded the way we fund all other budget items.

Basically, we should include in the budget all the items that are desired (affordable house, pre-k, rent relief, whatever) and separate that from the source of funds.
