Reply to Did Italy made a mistake by joining the Entente in 1915 during World War One? by Top_Moment4144
World war one was a mistake.
How's that?
It was just a sad comedy of errors that cost the lives of hundreds of millions. BILLIONS, really. Probably hundreds of billions.
Because "my dad is bigger than yours!"
"Oh yeah!? My dad can kick your dad any day!"
And not one "leader" used an ounce of common sense.

Reply to What did medieval (European or African) military campaigns look like? by ThingPuzzleheaded472
Stinky unwashed people, fresh from bashing, cutting and slicing people apart, hand to hand.
Imagine WW1 trenches, wet, cold, disease ridden... Now add some unknown thing called ptsd from physically downing swaths of people, animals, things best left unseen... Now add Uber religion and superstition...a total lack of medical care....
Total hell on earth..
And I think you have the beginnings of an understanding.

Well since there's only been colour since the 1950's, it's advanced lots. Before that, all monochrome. Jesus, before the 1920's, no sound! World War One was fought with people running around with "sound cards" like -BOOM-. -KAPOW-. -BLAM-. The Germans had improper translations of English and french- (soldier cards ....je swee sherrie,. Fish n chips lads! Or Canadian fish n chips, eh!)
The English and French had improper German translations (soldier cards....Auch dee strudel. Vissen nine!....rawss rawws Berliner!)
....all in black and white. At the end of the war they had a pianist who played ragtime and such....
