I post this a lot but there’s a billboard in my town the cops put up that has a thin blue line and it says STOP THE WAR

As in stop the war against cops? You know, the armed branch of the state? Which makes all of the rest of us non leos (you know, the ones who don’t get paid vacation time for murdering people or shooting poodles) aggro enemy combatants I guess?

The billboard underneath that one is still available for rent and I’m still taking suggestions on what we should put there. It infuriates me every time I see it. My point is that cops absolutely hate non cops and that makes up the biggest part of their problem. 95% malice, 5% incompetence

But then they won’t be brainless violent automatons of the state and if they aren’t that then what are they

My bully apologized and then died of a stroke a week later in her early twenties. That was confusing emotionally but I suppose that’s what happens when you walk around with so much hate in your heart all the time. Sometimes I think she only apologized because she had some prophetic guilt

I don’t agree with most of what they posted. But they are definitely right about gun deaths being the leading cause of death for younger folks. 2020-2022 saw a huge increase in gun violence, apparently.

Actually they are right about that. Guns are the leading cause of death for children ages 0-18 per the report the CDC released a few days ago (I think someone else linked it down below). Second is automobile accidents and third is suffocation.

As if the only options are all or nothing. There are gun owners (like myself) who aren’t “gun nuts”, who want sensible gun reform. I’m an antifascist who is a proud member of the Socialist Rifle Association. Sometimes I really resent people acting like progressive gun owners aren’t a thing.

I think you would have a lot more luck convincing others of your opinion if you didn’t invalidate the opinion of anyone who disagrees with you by calling them gun nuts

I guess mental healthcare reform would tangentially help reduce gang violence but I think you might be referring to the other kind of mass shooting

We need to take better care of seniors in this country and that means paying the people who staff these nursing homes a hell of a lot more than we do now. I don’t know why anyone is surprised when stuff like this happens. Americans are so far removed from the death process that I think they have no idea what these places are really like. It’s criminal if you ask me.
