I think Drury played it smart. Call the late start and then you have to time to really assess. I agree we probably could’ve come in last week, but they made the right call today. I’m not sure I could’ve gotten out my drive, and almost certainly couldn’t get back in now. I’m just glad they didn’t call it off any later than they did, I was walking to my car when I got the text.

I would just say (as a former student there) don’t trust the fact that you haven’t heard anything to mean it’s not happening. I was bullied relentlessly and my parents were never informed. When I told teachers and admin I was gonna tell my parents what really happened, they PANICKED and made me meet with every counselor the school had and the VP to convince me it wasn’t that bad and that they would “handle it.” I missed hours of class cuz I was crying and they wouldn’t let me leave. I had a teacher tell me that I was a “skinny bitch who was gonna die young”

ETA: that teacher retired but to this day has faced no consequences and the rich kids and admin still swear she was the best teacher to grace their halls.

A lot of straight up abuse from students AND teachers went unnoticed or worse, they just didn’t care. It all depends on who your parents are. I got physically beat by classmates when I told them I was going to change schools the next year; and the administration didn’t want me to tell my parents.

I’ll just say as a previous Greenwood kid it’s not good. It’s supposed to be advanced and leading edge but it is really not. Also the culture is toxic af. If you’re not a high brow socialite family you’re screwed. People send their kids there for the status. Kids would pay older kids $20 to push their “enemies” off the playground. And that was like 3rd grade.

I had my sweet 16 there… I loved that theatre. I went to all my midnight premieres there. I had numerous dates there and had friends who worked there in HS. I also found lots of knives there lol. It never recovered from the pandemic though. I hope it can stay a theatre and maybe someone else can take it over and do a little more with it. I’m sad I didn’t get to see one last movie to say goodbye.

If you are just wanting meat and noodles (little to no veggies) the New Oriental on Chestnut is my absolute favorite. I wish it had more veggies but the flavor makes it worth getting anyway. The dinner portion is a whole to-go box filled, so I get like 3 meals each time.

I think this place seems to vary a lot more than some of the other more popular coffee shops. I’ve been here a few times and it’s almost exactly a 50/50 split on if it was delicious or I felt like I wasted my money.

I’ve honestly never discussed pay with them. But they also haven’t complained about it so not the worst? Sorry that’s not super helpful. As for hours I know one is full time, but the other works part time so she can be home with her kids more and it works for her a lot better than some of her previous jobs. I know that’s not the most helpful, sorry. My advice would be to apply and see. Nothing really to lose and you can always say no if it doesn’t seem like what you’re looking for. They should be pretty upfront about all those things if you ask.
