This would only be the case if a single clone were to dominate rice production, but this is extremely unlikely for a seed crop. This paper is not really about making rice a purely clonal crop like bananas, it's about dramatically reducing the cost of obtaining high quality hybrid seed in large quantities.

Structured data like movie casts, plant names, etc. comes from a system called "Knowledge Graph", it's possible that the process updating the data in this system is misbehaving.

This article is a misinterpretation of some changes they made to the performance evaluation process, there haven't been any layoffs.

The $29B is revenue before any creator payouts, those would be listed as "cost of revenue".
