Interpol, I still like them and think antics and our love to admire are great, but turn on the bright lights is phenomenal.
Also The Avalanches, Gang of Four, and Hot Hot Heat.

Although I disagree and think that the California hardcore thing is more of a second wave, you’re entitled to your opinion, and totally valid, but why is Television seen as a proto-punk band? Not just from you, have seen it mentioned before. They were very much apart of the original New York thing, started around the same time as those other bands, Marquee Moon wasn’t released until 77’, wouldn’t they need to be, like, before the thing to be proto, not during?

Wouldn’t first wave punk be Ramones, Patti Smith, The Voidoids, and Television? Fugazi didn’t even form till ‘86.

DOOM has a bunch of singles and comps but they’re mostly made up of songs that were used on other projects, or older versions of those songs. I would imagine Eminem’s Infinite and Slim Shady EP(97) is obscure to more people than not, but by no means rare.

Lol, it’s this simple, I think, it’s been forever since I started doing this, learn some basic chords, listen to music, and play along with it. You’ll be surprised at how much you can finger out on your own, what you do will be wrong most of the time for awhile but slowly you can transcribe with your ear what’s right and wrong. Can’t stress enough that learning some basic theory won’t hurt you, but help you better understand what you’re doing, it’s not the gospel, it’s literally a tool to be used when you need. In western music there is only 12 notes, it won’t effect you negatively to learn them.

Bill Withers - Lean on Me, infinitely better then the Club Nouveau version that always gets radio play.

A ink sketch isn’t exactly a face reveal, plus with a quick Google search you can find pictures of them, they didn’t originally wear helmets.

Nice review, not my favorite Beatles album but it’s up there. If you haven’t, you should listen to The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds, that album according to McCartney was a major influence on sgt. peppers.

I knew some of their songs but wasn’t really a fan, but if someone from one the bands I really loved did something like that I’d personally write them off forever. I would never judge someone for listening to it with that said.

I can usually separate the artist from the art, but this particular case would make me feel pretty bad about it. If it makes you feel weird or guilty about it probably not worth listening to it.

Okay, I feel you, I would have been more direct but I’m also kind of blunt when it comes to that sort of thing. To me it sounds like they were trying to be as nice as possible, which shows they care about your feelings, no reason why you can’t reach out and ask what specifically was off if that’s something you really want to know.

Not really picking up what you’re saying, they’re not being honest about the vibes they were feeling? They obviously felt something to kick you out of the band, even if you thought it was all good doesn’t mean that was their perspective.

Everything they wrote seems pretty straight forward to me, sometimes people don’t mesh. If you’re in a band that takes it seriously you have to spend a lot of time with each other, and you can usually tell pretty quick if it’s not going to work out. I’ve had situations from fist fights to better friendships, you never know what’s going to happen and it would be better to just take it as it is and move on. You mention you’ve met other people through them, and they themselves would be interested in working on your material with you, no reason to burn those bridges, that could give you a bad reputation and make it all that more difficult to do something in the future if you’re sticking around your city. Go to shows, meet more people, if you’re good enough chances are something will happen and you’ll find some people who are about what you do and want to make music with you.

Hard disagree, if the debut is 100%, antics is a good 85%, 3rd LP is around 70%, the rest is probably 60-65%
