Reply to If the film 65 with Adam Driver were to have a plot twist, what do you think it would be? by Aralmin
He didnt travel to the past, he is in fact in the future. Life on Earth ended after a cataclysmic event and its going through the whole stages of evolution all over again.
If it sounds very dumb its only because it is very dumb.

Hard disagree on The Inception thing. Tho I dont particularly think Leo's acting was at his best there, Damon kinda was lost in the mix as well. Nicholson outshone both.
Reagrdless of that, I dont personally think he is overrated. Perfomance-wise he is more often than not the standout in the films he features.

A reasonable and agreeable opinion. But I also think it was expected, much like the first one, the story is not really the selling point, the visual spectacle is.

10/10 movie. Love it. Beautifully animated and written. Beautiful soundtrack too. Every now and then I feel sometimes the love thats poured into a film shows, it just flows, and this was one of those cases. I love it.

Full Metal Jacket. And most of Kubrick's filmography if im honest, I fear most of them might lose their impact upon rewatches, so I avoid doing that.

Its the opposite for me actually, Im not that confident in putting T2 on the same level as Aliens, because Aliens is the clear #1. However, whatever I may not like of T2 (mostly the pacing tbh) would be just nitpicks, because generally speaking both are fantastastic and as I said, I consider the two of them to be the quintessential sci-fi horror film sequels.

Mine would read as follow:
1.- Aliens
2.- Terminator 2
3.- Titanic
4.- Terminator
5.- Avatar
6.- Avatar WOTW
7.- True Lies
8.- Abyss
9.- Piranha 2
Top 2 spots kinda go toe to toe, so lets say its a tie. Both are the quintessential sci-fi horror film sequels as far as im concerned.

My boy Daniel Day Lewis. Dude was a chameleon, he could play anyone. Intense and dramatic, outgoing and loud, gritty and introspective, shy and quiet, he could do all types. He could be playing an appliance in my kitchen and I wouldnt notice, he is that good.

If for whatever weird reason you dont like them, then you dont like them and thats it. You are not expected to like every acclaimed movie ever.

Not at all. Videogames have come a long way, but these are still diferent mediums with different artistic focus. As some other dude just said, "theres no such thing as inferior art".

AFI's 100 movies ranking is, for me at least, the ultimate film buff top tier essentials list. All the films in there, which include all eras of cinema, are masterpieces.
If you are doing you own I'd recommend checking that one.

I agree. Its very solid. Its not original and it doesnt deviate from genre formulas, but I liked this one a lot more than I thought I would and I do feel its a bit underrated. I personally loved the setting, the final creature reveal and creature design because its very purposely done to imitate lovecratian lore. Thats a nice touch, even if it feels a bit out of place or under-explored.

I liked it much more than I thought I would, however I think the movie sort couldnt find its identity. It wasnt really a comedy, but it wasnt really a drama either. It doesnt fully commit to either, so it kinda feels that it chickens out of being serious about the themes of adoption or just playing them for laughs, like you said, the whole Jacob thing was played for laughts, but the emotions and exhaustion and difficulty connecting with the kids felt real. The mother coming back felt serious. But then, comedy. So I wasnt sure if it was meant to be a serious take on the struggles of adoption or not. But like I said, overall I liked it, its better than most movies Whalberg has done recently.
