Wow! that poem puts you in the fox holes and on the battlefields alright.

I'm a veteran who missed Vietnam by just a few years.

Here is a more philosophical musing focusing on the victimized society.

I would read this poem while on active duty and thank my luck star I wasn't two or more years older, with an unlucky lottery # pick.

I like the way this was included in Stephen King's, The Stand, 1996 version.

By the way if this hook happens to get into it the series, just skip the 2020 remake of the same, it sucks on more levels than one can imagine.
