A lot of the story threads movies and games and even comics follow are basically just remaking older stories...even if they call themselves new.

So to many superheroes as a genre... is quite dead or at the very least getting milked needlessly.

Then again this is a problem with pretty much any genre especially when the movies and games get more expensive..because studios basically cannot allow themselves to do truly groundbreaking or risky stuff... it is hard that producers go away from the traditional heroes journey and whatnot...which is exactly why average feeling movies happen, in a way a super large budget kills a movies creativity...kinda makes sense though it is like many call the galapagos finch problem... theres many birds, you can only pick one to represent the island... producers will pick the most generic one not the most unique or cool one... to many stale, but a safe play... this is why many feel like stuff is just perpertually dying...because large budgets tend to play it safe... happens with games especially...which is in part why indie games can allow themselves to challenge AAA titles..because AAA titles tend to have so much budget they have to play it safe...this is in part why single player story games are dying too in AAA spaces...this is why theres so many remakes or reboots of series.. they can be safe while being fresh...or put some more complex.. though quite generic story on a known IP (see tomb raider remake for instance, the game is nice but let's face it don't name it tomb raider and it isn't exactly a new story...they just added complexity to a new coat of paint of something older, much simpler)

This very largely depends how much you know about the comics and older stuff that preceeded these newer movies

Games and movies and genres are always in a perpetual state of dying as the older fan base slowly gets alienated from what they knew it was...or theres just nothing new under the sun.

This is also in part why if they don't do remakes.. they often do spinoffs of characters or start completely new IPs because that's a blank slate even if you use safe story threads it feels more fresh.

Generally I always decide with anyone im there what to get so we can try and share stuff.

For instance i know i never manage to finish my fries so i Never will get any...or we just get one portion of fries which is usually enough for the whole group...because surely none of us will take cold fries that get rather soggy home..not like you can properly reheat those.. just order less and share lmao.

I feel like this communication with friends, family and partners is quite normal especially with stuff getting just more and more expensive

Here in germany you even get the option to get a "bandit plate" in many restaurants especially for this purpose so one person can just choose to take food from others plates and share...they just give you an empty plate so you can share.

Like legit i sometimes choose to get this because my meds supress my appetite a bunch so im usually fine with taking a bit from everyone. Saves everyone money and hassle lmao...and everyone usually leaves a bunch anyway because holy hell restaurants sometimes overfill plates and stuff is just so filling.

Communication. It isn't like you need to nudge people anywhere. You can just communicate...

In my case it wss quite paradoxically about eating more because my metabolism just got so bad and i had too little protein to even support muscle help burn calories and to tap much into my belly fat.

So i also didnt perform too well in the gym...

I only lost my belly / skinnyfat when i ate more so i could actually support my body burning lots of calories

Then again i was already quite skinny

Well here in germany theres this in between thing where you still have a cashier but they dont directly do the change, they just sit there. Pull the items over the band and you put the money in a coin sorter.

In many cases an employee is still present they just have an eye on the self checkout aisle so no one does anything stupid.. like the way ikea does it is smart...really only works in large af stores such as ikea though. They Have like 8 cashless registers for smaller purchase numbers.. and one or two sometimes 3 employees are around to guide people and manage, you have 8 cashless registers (sometimes 4) and still 2-3 employees.. because they handle furniture and such, having all these cash registers filled is almost too inefficient because you still get long lines... ikea just turned 2 cash registers into like...8 and still has employees staffing it all...heck they seem to have more people thanks to this. I usually see 3 people on the self checkout aisles, when the area that thing takes up is usually just one or two cash registers normally...but again this only works in huge Huge stores like ikea where it is also worth to Have a ton of employers just because they do pick up and delivery too. So even at calm hours no employee is useless there

Cashiers are sadly a dying job because it is quite stressful. Underpaid and all in all a job that requires quite a bunch of skill and resiliency....so you often times don't get many skilled enough cashiers that can handle the load.. which is why these coin machines exist... to mske cashier employment easier

Like with or without self checkout aisles, the whole retail sector is getting smaller and smaller and employees often times no longer need to be there for cashier roles but stocking shelves etc...this direction is happening anyway

Im your average aldi you have 4 or 5 cash registers usually just one or two are staffed... the store can be run by like 3 people...in most stores having a dedicated person for every cash register is not needed.. most grocery stores in their very design run with few people in the actual store.. self checkout aisle or not.

A self checkout aisle just makes the shop run more fluidly usually... it tends to be one of those things which is bad but it's more thr symphtom of a trend that has already been going on steadily, if anything it increases life quality for the handful employees still there.. as theres less workload.

It is sadly one of those many jobs which requires suprising amounts of skill. Is too underpaid to find plenty of employees.. and can be automated....also in a more and more cashless society you don't need as many cashiers that can handle coins really well...if anything the prevelancy of credit and debit cards is the thing killing the cashier job.

If it werent for the self checkout you just have 3 overworked cashiers at 7 cash registers...just because theres 7 cash registers doesnt mesn they hire 7 people.

Well the job has already been taken

That cashier job ain't coming back wether you use the self checkout or not

It doesn't work entirety employee free so in many cases you still have employees stacking shelves and such.

But it is ultimately mimimising work force.. which is a thing happening anyway. Because being a cashier has low pay and many kinda cannot even afford to work as a cashier.

These self checkouts are kinda a symptom of companies not paying enough for cashiers so they eventually chose to automate..thereby making stores run with fewer employees.

Well same reason why we have abandoned industrial complexes, old abandoned buildings and such. People need to be willing to do something with that ground. Removing ruins takes time and money too... the amount of just burned down or abandoned buildings that litter our modern landscape is quite vast too.

In many cases ruins also just just stay landmarks

This is today. Back then all they had were hand tools...not explosives, heavy machinery, cranes and all that.

You are not just "removing" structures that are as solid as lets say the roman colluseum

Often times ruins also tend to be mostly foundations.. no one bothered to remove foundations

So they very much did remove a bunch of it. Just.. put dirt over it and use the square as a market or something.

Other times.. well cities get abandoned by conquest too... whoever conquered the place doesnt necissarily see maintainance of some places as needed.

If europe wasn't rebuilt with massive efforts after ww2 most of these ruins would still be here.. this is how many war torn countries will remain to look like for loong times.

A loan shark gives desperate people that need cash big loans at absurd interest rates.

Long story short it is a trap... you already are left without money, a loan shark preys on that by fixing your debt issue short term.. then kicks you deeper in debt due to absurd interest rates... so to get rid of the loan sharks loan..who will press and harass you to pay it off.. many opt to lend money from other.. possibly loan sharks too. Or friends.

It is a spiral of debt.

I just like to light candles and just chill

Its this rare moment of calm and i usually dont have an excuse to light candles everywhere

I also use one of those battery powered galaxy projectior lamps for extra comfy vibes

Playing on my 3ds or switch is also always fun then.

That being said i live in germany an power outages rarely happen and they usually settle within 30 min or so

Yeah exactly i am not complaining either

It is just this thing which always will cause a stir with people

Sometimes it is better to diverge from the story. Else you get this anime game problem... where the story ends up super stiff because it tries 1:1 to stay on the source... it is one of the reasons why anime games are so hit and miss if you think about it (apart from flawed gameplay concepts often)

I mean even if the witcher by cdpr is nothing like the book series which the movies are based upon

Lets be real here most people would have never even been aware of the witcher franchise before the games.

I would have loved it more if the games stayed more true to the source but it may have made the games worse. Now we just gotta live with this weird split.

Yeah, which i find funny because remember when everyone thought the series was gonna be meh because it looked nothing like the games.

And then people went like "y know the books exist right?"

I feel like what people want witcher to be are 3 distinct things. And people are not quite certain what direction is the correct one

I read and watched and played all of it and don't see much problems, sure i see the differences being massive but if you treat it as roughly different media albeit in the same universe it works out.

What happened now?

All i know is... While the books etc diverge from the game and series...

Its fine, all 3 can coexist together... i mean the OG series was barely known before the games...

Just because metro 2033 has nothing to do with the books at some point doesn't make it necissarily bad either.

Sure actors switching may make things weird but i wouldn't call it ruined. The whole thing never stuck to any source material properly in the first place.
