Certain traffic lights have a button to signal that you (the pedestrian) wants to cross. Those traffic lights are usually optimized for cars, as they know the no pedestrians will usually cross.
The blonde keeps pressing the button, repeatedly, which have no effect. When asked about it, she says its to call her friend (like a comms system in an apartment building).
The other person, which is also blonde, fails to realise the mix up (traffic lights vs apartment building) and instead says that the friend must be home, "because the lights are on" - which, in an apartment would suggest someone being home.

Code is not self-executing. I know certain articles can make it seem like it, but the reason code is "self-executing" is really because your program is instructed to "download, read, and follow all instructions at <website>".
If you don't want or need that, you can just make a program that just downloads the page, without running the code. Or you can limit what code it can run.
Like, imagine a really stupid chef. You hand him a recipe and he makes the food. One day you hand him the recipe for a Molotov cocktail, and he blows up the kitchen. The issue isn't the recipe - it's the chef.

Reply to comment by ChickenEnthusiast in ELI5: Tech billionaires lost $400 billion this year. Where does it go? Does anyone gain? by ChickenEnthusiast
To add to this: Some people then say that it's not real money, and it's not like those billionaires actually have those money... But it's quite easy for them to sell they assets at some rate, like 100 million/month, if they wanted to.
So while it's not currently real money, that's like saying that you having money in your bank account is not currently real money. True, it's not, but it could easily be.

Yes, it's expanding, but on the inside (like a balloon). Unless you can already look outside, you're not getting any closer to the outside. (Assuming an "outside")

I'm sorry, I don't think I get your point here.
I read it as either "That's not how REAL magic works" or "The prompt is silly, this would be better.". Is either of those the point?

Reply to Too much or too little sleep could be making you sick more. Those who reported sleeping less than six hours a night were 27% more likely to report a recent infection, and those who reported more than nine hours sleep were 44% more likely to report one. by MistWeaver80
It doesn't seem like they've accounted for kids.
Those will make you sick, a lot, and will make you sleep very little.
