If it's not a chain, then it's not "Thing you've heard of is coming to New Hampshire!", it's just "New thing opens!".
And I'm with you on the state's food situation. You can find good food, but you have to look a little harder for it. The big offense to me is how much people will overpraise the completely unremarkable stuff.

I don't think that school constitutes art deco. IDK the name for that style, I looked it up once because I hate it. But I remember it was more 50's/60's. A lot of grade schools all over the country look like it.
Art deco's a little more "grand" looking, lots of vertical patterns. Like the Chrysler Building or the Empire State Building, and was an early 1900s style.
edit: Okay, I didn't notice the spire. Still not sure you'd call that art deco, idk what that is.

Shake Shack's more like your fancy/hipster fast food burgers. Tasty, but expensive and greasy. Kind of like a chain version of what Lexie's is. (yes, I know Lexie's has multiple locations)

I ate it a bunch in a short span when I moved near one once. It was delicious, but greasy enough I got sick of it quick, then didn't go again for a few years. When I finally did, it was the price that kept me away.

I thought Shake Shack was a lot better than five guys. Never had the other two though.

I lived two blocks from a Shake Shack for five years.
My experience was eating it enough times in the first week of living there that I got sick of it and didn't have it again for like three years.
It is good though.

> tf is everything 'new' to new Hampshire just am infiltration of strip mall bullshit
What's the alternative though? There's not a big city in NH so it's not going to get a lot of the upscale chains. If something that's not a chain opens here, it's not a recognized brand "coming to NH", it's just a new business in NH. As for strip malls, it's a rural state, so most of your brick and mortar consumer businesses open in strip malls.

This. But most people don't see it that way, so it's a question of "when life begins" to most of them.
At the end of the day we assign different value to different lives and most people just don't want to admit it. Which still leaves it a contentious issue because now it's a question of where's the line where it's life is valuable enough to be protected instead of whether or not it is life. If one thing's clear it's that people disagree on where it should be.

Go drop a baby off in the middle of the woods without an adult caring for it and see how long it survives. Your comment is brain-dead, even for /r/newhampshire standards.

Is that what it's supposed to be? I took it as referring to Portsmouth, where there seems to be less fat people walking around here than in any other part of the state I've seen.

Almost any school will be what you make of it, but the small state school stereotype's a thing. Where I grew up had a couple of them. Fine schools, but most people are going to experience college and because it's what they were supposed to do, then move straight back to their hometowns to become teachers, cops, nurses, or work at some relative's business etc.

That's how I took it. I don't like the term "Karen", but it's a thing and I've never seen more of them, or to such unbearable degrees, than in Portsmouth, and I've lived in a lot ritzier places than this. For body dysmorphia, I'd say people here take a little better care of themselves, then once you get inland, it goes the other way on average.

"Body dysmorphia & god complexes" should read "Not fat & has all their teeth".

I'm assuming it's meant for Newington, they just couldn't fit it.
The area they put it is just woods.

Lot of utilities do this now. Super annoying, their payment processor should be factored into the price IMO and I seriously doubt it costs them the $2-5 they all charge for it, but the situation you're describing isn't unusual.

Seconded. I spent a lot of years depending on bars for social circles. It's a fun social outlet for meeting a variety of people, or having the occasional hook up, but most of the friends you make, the only hobby or activity you'll share is getting drunk together. Clubs or meetups are better.

It's not impressive. I've experienced far worse than what you're highlighting and I'm white.
Also important to point out the goalpost shift from people acting like there's some active Nazi takeover of Portsmouth to talking about micro aggressions and colonialism.
Also, if you're Puerto Rican with any Spanish ancestry, you're as much a "colonizer" as any of us. In fact, more so because your ancestors were definitively "colonizers" if you do, while a lot of us just came from struggling farmers and tradespeople and such. Not that you should be blaming people for presumed crimes of their ancestors based on their skin color (because that's what racism actually is), but it sounds like you do and it's as hypocritical as it gets.

Bro, what you listed would not even register as memorable for most people because most people deal with far worse (at least outside of rural new england). I find it insulting that you even used that as your big memorable example of "experiencing prejudice".

It's not ignorant.
I'm just not a melodramatic child. There's video. It looks like it's an edgy teenager.
If either of our takeaways are ignorant, it's the rube acting as though this is a catastrophic event and we should all panic about it. It just makes it seem like you haven't experienced much in life.. Which would actually be in line with the word "ignorant".
It's a gross thing for somebody to do. But no, I'm not going to play along and encourage panic because some rube is over excited about the first instance of racially motivated vandalism in their area.

Could be serious if someone has a heart condition, or had to operate a vehicle. Not everyone's a stoner, and even if they are, getting too high sucks. Then there's getting too high out of nowhere, with no idea why, and for people who don't smoke, probably not recognizing what's happening to them.
