This reminds me of the Cape Elizabeth debacle over the affordable housing units in the in town area.

It's the same reason successful tradespeople often hire someone to perform estimates. They're delegating low hanging tasks so that they can focus on money making activities. A VA allows you to take more jobs because you're spending less time chasing clients for scheduling, payment, fielding questions, etc.
The nice thing about the trades is it offers an opportunity to work for yourself and run your own business but for, again, I'll say, most tradespeople, they really could use some classes on how to run their business optimally.

Did you see how much people complained about the Maine mall traffic plaza redesign? You'd think someone stole their childhood binky the way people acted. I can't wait until the Gorham connector is added and everyone goes "Oooooh that's why they did it like this!"

Virtual assistants are really pretty cheap tbh and it must be either ignorance of their existence or the good ole boy resistance to change mentality. To u/GratefulHead420 's point, most tradespeople have incredibly lackluster customer service skills and would be able to do more and charge more with someone handling the phones!

High end winter tires are about $1000 installed and should last 5+ seasons. No reason why you shouldn't be using them if you can afford them. We're talking about your life. If $1000 in life insurance isn't worth it to you, I dunno what to tell ya.

To follow up on this, modern tread design has actually supplanted studded tires except for driving on literal sheet ice and stopping. A proper follow distance and high quality winter tires are all you need, and yes, they drastically increase performance over your all season on your SUV.

Yep, just for two or three days. The only time I'll ever advise my tenants to bump their heat up! Thermostat is going up to 72 on Thursday and the setback is being turned off.

I don't think this is a real reason for concern. There has already been lots of push back due to Starlink satellites which has led to a lot of attention to the issue. Future Starlink satellites are planned to be much less intrusive in the night sky and industry wide it is being thought of. Regulation will probably come, too.
