Refuelling the early gas cars was a huge pain - you had to go buy a can of gas at the shop! And hope they had one!

There were apparently often street power points to charge electric cars outside major shops in the cities to compensate for the hilariously small range the first electrics had (30 miles is probably an over estimate!)

In other words, both kinds of car were "a bit shit" to start with. It's widely accepted that ironically it was the electric starter that won it for the combustion engine, but I imagine the development of filling stations helped too, Vs no real progress in battery technology for a century on the electric side.

It's because it goes to 12 on one hand, then 5 on the other, and then if you go higher it does 12 again then 5 again. You can think of that as going to 60 on both hands, then 60 again, rather than alternating 12 and 5.

e.g. 12×5 (60) seconds, then 12×5 (60) minutes, then 12 hours

Really it's an alternating base 12/5 number system though.

There's some good information on that topic in this YouTube video talking about YouTube experimenting with requiring a subscription for viewing at 4k, by someone that runs a major YouTube channel and small side streaming network (that does support 4k also).

https://youtu.be/MDsJJRNXjYI

It was about 44% penetration for 4k TVs, but for his content, TVs only made up 11% of viewers in total.

I suspect Netflix has more TV streamers so it would be different for them.
