I have this theory about actors. There are three categories;
Those who were born with the ability.
Those who were born with the ability but decided they can always learn more.
Those who weren't born with it but tried to learn anyway, no matter how much time and money they spend, they will never act. They might still get work if they're pretty but it will never be for their acting. Keanu Reeves is a good example, he's not an actor, he's an acrobat. Denise Richards would be another, she's a model, not an actor. etc etc.

DiCaprio have been a spectacular actor his entire life, he's never had to learn. Most great actors never have to learn, it also means they will always act the same in every movie. Kate Winslet, Marlon Brando, Elliot Page.
This means that even simply a good actor, not a spectacular one, who works at it and learns their entire career will eventually surpass the spectacular one. Biggest "sleeper" I think would be Scarlett Johansson
Then if a spectacular actor decides to learn, that's how you get people like Meryl Streep or Daniel Day-Lewis. Also weirdly enough, a lot of stand up comics? I think Tatiana Maslany is another one -Orphan Black is just on another level- and most of this theory is because of her: https://youtu.be/SEQuUJ5YUdQ
