The Military Industrial Complex bleeds America some more.
Every Submarine built is a school not built, a hospital not built, thousands of students not receiving education, homeless people not helped, low-income housing not built, drug addicted people not receiving help. America is a failed state that cannot even provide it's people with clean drinking water.

CT is a great place but, no car no bueno. You'll be stuck in one place or spend a fortune on taxi's and ride shares.
You could possibly stay one of the casinos and they have bus service to Boston and New York and possibly to the New London train station. Plenty of night life at the casinos.

Snowfall is better because it melts slowly and sinks into the ground instead of running off.

A better question would be "Have you read the Singularity Is Near"?

I formed my LLC back in the mid-nineties. Very little was required: 2 computers, 2 desks, a filing cabinet, a printer, a fax machine, business cards, some office supplies and advertising literature. It still cost me near 20K. With inflation 50K would not be unreasonable especially if you are buying lab equipment. I ran it out of a spare bedroom of my house. Being undercapitalized is almost a guarantee for failure.

We had a good run, AI may be better for the planet in the long run. Maybe the AIs will keep us on a reservation like in Australia or something.

Goes back to Colt Firearms. Making guns with interchangeable parts requires precision manufacturing and machine tools. People who became proficient in using machine tools spun off many businesses from Colts and the spin off businesses needed businesses to support them. The Connecticut River was a major transportation hub so you get a lot of industry along the river.

So you ask it. "Discover a new radiation shielding material for space craft using all known chemicals, materials and alloys combining each of them in different ratios and heated and cooled at different temperatures." and set it to work and see what it comes up with.

That was sort of my point. An AI with a high normal IQ but expert knowledge in all that is known will make major discoveries that no human could make taking information from dozens of disciplines to make something new in a way that no human could.
TheSecretAgenda t1_j9m3ey4 wrote
Even something with say a 150 IQ that has an expert knowledge level in every topic is going to be pretty powerful.

No, a smart villain knows how to apply violence effectively. He becomes wealthy, bribes politicians to have the state deal with his enemies.

Calm down. No one knows what is going to happen. The fact that you are aware puts you way ahead of most other people. Pay attention, be flexible, look for career opportunities that will be hard to automate like good paying trades. Relax, everything will be alright.

If OP does VTSAX for thirty years he should have enough dividends even in a down market that he will have no financial problems at all.
