Reversed

All I could think about was me walking to the counselors office.

"Do you know why I'm talking to you right now?"

I stared at him.

"You seemed to always be distracted, your grades are dropping. This is very important."

I kept staring, tuning out his words with the ticks of the clock.

Tick tock, Tick tock, Tick tock.

"Kati! Seriously?" He sighed. "Just try to keep your fantasy world outside of school, okay?" He dismissed me.

I was walking home from school, like I do everyday. I hate it here. My parents think I'm as dumb as a doorknob as do my teachers. I wish I could leave.

I woke up this morning, sadly. But I'm not in my bed. I'm on hard ground, my mouth is taped as well are my arms. It seems to be a glass containment cell, the lights are bright. I'm panicking.

Then I stop. Someone is coming into the room. More than one person. I can't make out their faces since they are discarded by masks. I assume these are my kidnappers?

"Hello." Said the first person.

"If you are confused, we are holding you here to take place in an experiment. If you don't oblige to being a part of the experiment, you will be killed. Understood?"

I nodded.

It was terrible at first. But after awhile I didn't care. Sometimes they'd see what I was fearful of, trying to make me go insane. The dark, spiders, small spaces, noises, heights. I wasn't scared. I moved myself to a land so far away. A world made of pillows and skies made of quilts. With a sunset that burned over the world like candle wax. No one was telling me what I have to do. No one was telling me who to be. They were trying. But no.

I overheard them talking. Something about their boss, and if how the experiment fails-Blah, blah, blah.

I don't know how many days have passed now. They really are desperate. Sometimes I find it amusing, other times, I don't care. One of the kidnappers left—the second one. He probably didn't want to risk getting killed.

I can feel my body. Its very malnourished. But I'm feeding my mind. I really have no sense of time at this point. The kidnappers wonder how I'm not dead, some days they're screaming and talking and fighting.

This was the only time I snapped out of it. It may have been months at this point. My parents probably haven't tried looking for me, that wouldn't be surprising. The sound was so loud. BANG! My abductors had shot each other, at the same time. I realized I was the only one left in the room.

This has been fun. The tape around my body had worn off. There was no weapons in the glass room, no rocks, nothing. This is the first time I realized it. My hair used to be my neck length. Its down to my waist now. I stand up. Pain. I ran and threw myself against one of the glass walls. It shattered.

I grab the gun, and decide to end the daydreams.

Impact

I have a big job opportunity.

At the start of my day, that was what I was worried about. Now things are different.

10:05 AM

It's raining today. I hop on the train, knowing where I start and where I will end up. The train is lined with two rows of seats on both sides next to small windows. I take my seat. It's quiet, no one is talking. I wait. We come upon entering a tunnel.

10:36 AM

This has to be the weirdest train ride.

We've been in this tunnel for 30 minutes, now. I see some worried passengers around me quietly discussing, a baby is crying. I look around. Everybody on the train is dressed formally and old-schooled, no one has their phones out. One lady is wearing a sky blue dress ending at the bottom half of her nees, that is topped off with tall, white stiletto heels. She's holding a small baby in a yellow bonnet. Whats going on?

10:48 AM

I get up from my seat and head towards the locomotive driver. He's staring in to the abyss of the black tunnel.

"Excuse me, sir? We have been in this tunnel for over 40 minutes now."

"A lot longer than that, you' new here or something?" He said.

I looked at him again, confused.

"I never thought that It would all end in such a dark place." He said.

"Is the train going to stop in this tunnel?" I asked, feeling that the driver was being a little cryptic.

"The train adds to its collection of misfortunate newcomers. It will stop al'right. It will. Then starts again. Than stops, if only I could've been a bit quicker." The driver continued. "Sir, what year is it?"

"2023, why?"

"Ah. It sure has been awhile. The incident happened in 1964." He said.

"196-" I was about to say, before he cut me off.

"Hush! Don't be disrespectful. Its about to happen again."

The trains' three lights reflected against something, lighting it. An exit maybe? It was almost hypnotising, peaceful even.

Wait. No. That's not an exit.

Its a...Wall. No, NO NO!

"STOP THE TRAIN!"

Impact.

This is Paul.

He is my mailman.

He likes chocolate, dogs, and summer vacations.

and today I am going to spy on him.

Lately, I've noticed something strange. Paul never moves, well—he does move, sometimes, when he delivers me mail. But then he walks away and stays in the same spot. He never blinks, or breathes, he kinda just acts like- Paul. No one else seems to see him, and I've gotten used to his strange behavior. So you might be wondering, how am I going to spy on him if he never moves? Well, he did move today. After delivering my mail, I watched him and expected him to go back to his spot on my front lawn. He didn't. Instead he walked around the corner, into my neighbors backyard. I followed him and hid behind a bush. Paul pulled out a phone-like device and started talking, well, not talking. More like making strange noises.

"Eggu-Ralushika-megaki-cactiulopochtli-Ugge." Said Paul. Similar noises came from the other end of whoever Paul was speaking too.

"Paul I knew it!" I said to him, taking out my phone. "So you are an alien stalking people at their lawn in order to gain information about humans only to use it against us when you take over earth!?"

Paul pressed some sort of button on his Mail-man outfit that I've never noticed. A translator!

"Wow. You're not as unintelligent as I thought. How'd you know?" Paul asked.

"Just a wild guess."

"Welp, seems like I've been exposed, again. On to the next planet!" He said.

Paul spawned some sort of spaceship-like device right in front of him, and just took off.

"Dang it! I forgot to press record!"

It was probably the most terrifying sight he'd had seen.

Not because most of his men were dead in battle, but because the hero was standing above him, his sword about to come down. . .

"One moment, sorry." The hero said, taking a large supply of food containing a roast chicken, cheese wheels, and a watermelon from his infinitely large pockets.

"What are you doing? Isn't this the part where you kill me?" Said the villain.

"Kill you? No. I need to like...Revive my health. You understand, right?"

The health bar on top of the hero went all the way back to 100, after swallowing all the food at once. The villain looked up, he had a health bar, too!

"What the heck! This isn't some sort of video game, right?!" The villain asked.

"Ugh. Did you not read the fine print?"

The villain and the hero continued bickering. . .

"The screens frozen! What a bad arcade game! Wait a minute. Are those characters. . . Talking?"
