While we argue about this we are quickly bringing Biologics (synthetic antibodies) to market that will effectively greatly reduce or eliminate diabetic complications.

The issue is going to be that big pharma will want thousands of dollars a shot (with a shot lasting a few months), leading to insurances not wanting to cover it.

10 billion would be much better spent building lots of multistory (ideally affordable) housing there and removing the need for folks to be driving into town in the first place.

This is the kind of proactive instead of retroactive thinking we need to do.

All the photos in the article just highlight this for me, instead of highways there we could have HOUSING. 10 billion in housing would be a big deal for this city, rather than a slightly wider highway to make it easier for people who dont live here and often aren't stopping here.

The holding times have nothing to do with being sober or not. Its usually a hold until the pre-trial folks (basically mini-judges) can see you and set a bail.

You havent been convicted of a crime at that point so the whole holding period is always a bit controversial. Of course it can make sense when someone is drunk/high, but you could also imagine where a holding period is easily abused.
