Reply to comment by TJ_Fox in TIL that on April 1st, 1906, American newspapers ran prank articles reporting that Chicago had been "invaded by hordes of prehistoric monsters dealing death and destruction", illustrated with doctored photos showing dinosaurs attacking the Windy City. by TJ_Fox
I bet at least one historical "fact" was an inside joke that was lost to time.
My guess is Abraham Lincoln having a high pitched voice. I bet it was deep and booming but it was funny to say otherwise.

Reply to comment by PrezMoocow in TIL of the Pig War, a border dispute between the US and the UK, around Vancouver Island (present-day Canada) and Washington State. The only casualty was a pig, owned by an Irish farmer, which was shot by an American farmer for eating his potatoes. Both countries deployed military troops. by drak0bsidian
To be fair, a third of the continent looks like this. Not many natural boundaries to fight over, y'know?

A recommendation written as a question: Have you seen the Ken Burns Prohibition documentary? Quite good and a wealth of info for you guys.
Actual question from someone dabbling in game design for a sim game: how are you guys handling the economic aspects? Price fluctuations, market oversaturation, etc. I'm curious if there's more logic back there than some prng. No hate if it is just prng, I just never find discussion on it for sim games.
