That's the nature of languages; they change. Many words we use today and accept were once longer and considered slang at one point. Eventually, people accept them as proper and they get added to the normal lexicon. That doesn't mean "longer words will soon disappear" just some words are shortened...

More like $18 an hour. Take home $1,800 a month.

Insurance is $440 a month. So it's more like $5k a year not 6.

I'm under contract until March 2024 I could could get a second job . But I think I'd rather kill myself than have zero time to actually live my life.

AFAIK The scientific consensus is that it's not life. Not because of any semantic reason but an ethic and possibly legal one. If at any point in the future we decide to "protect all life" then things like vaccines would be consider genocide. We still have things like traps and pesticides, but that's a bridge we'll cross when we come to it.
