Just do it by winds, save yourself the trouble. Measure how much a single wind will be and then you can figure out how many winds you need for any length.
Don't overcomplicate it. I mean how accurate do you actually need to be?

You're incorrect my friend. This picture has been over saturated though. The colors are due to minerals/metals though.

Your ac unit isn't in the attic is it? Had this issue before and it turned out to be a clogged drain line for the ac.

That's how I solved it, sure I can't flip a switch to turn them off but I can turn them off in bed.
