Reply to Why does a Thorium gas mantle, when incandescent, emit more light in the visible spectrum than in infrared, when compared with a black body with the same temperature? by [deleted]
It's quantum physics
Different atoms prefer to produce photons at different wavelengths. That's why copper burns blueish green, strontium burns red, and sodium burns yellow.
After it absorbs energy from the flame, It's electrons drop back down and tend to produce more light in the visible spectrum than the infrared

Reply to TIL in the 1980s Monty Python got much of its exposure to the US through PBS, because of CBS censoring parts of "The Holy Grail" in a 1977 broadcast. This upset the comedy troupe, prompting them to withdraw the broadcast rights. by AnthillOmbudsman
That censoring had an interesting effect. I knew lots of people who had recorded and rewatched the edited version then rented the unedited version around people they were embarrassed to watch that unedited content around.

Neutral: Making and selling ammunition to another country at a profit.
Not Neutral: Allowing that other country to let someone else defend themselves with it.
What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

Reply to eli5 What is the difference between a compiled language and an interpreted language in programming by GamingRocky_YT
Compiled languages are written in human readable form and then a program compiles the instructions into something that the computer later run and directly.
An interpreted language is read by another program and interpreted into something the computers understands when it runs.

It was dead the next morning. It needs a lot more than meandering for 15 minutes.
If worried, turn off all possible electrical and run the speed up. I keep a charger at home for all that though

I've heard it's about 30 minutes for a good alternator running solid on the highway. 2 hours or more just driving on small roads.

That extra driving won't do much for the battery. Especially compared to the effects of cold on an old battery.
