Farm Fresh, Dave's, Armandos, Union Market, Good Fortune, Dockside, Tom's, Brigiados, Seabras, any number of small markets, they might not be giant markets but are "local".

I am all for staying as local as possible but having a store that has everything you might be looking for as you said you didnt like about the smaller markets but those things are directly opposed to each other. How many "super"markets would you like to have headquartered/owned by a RI only company? Our population is just way too small for that and that was the case decades ago but they just couldn't sustain and draw shoppers as they all carried the same products, from the same distributors(also not local) that they were just fighting each others.

Depending on your age names like Roch's, Jerry's, Almacs and IGA are usually only heard when giving or getting directions, like "take a left after the old Almacs but before the Dunkins." But they used to be the heavy hitters in the area, but then people started wanted more variety at the market and those supermarkets just couldn't offer as much and thats when Stop and Shop gained a foothold. Shaws as well, they were owned by a Massachusetts company at the time though.

The list I provided is just what I can think of off the top of my head and sure I have forgotten plenty. Not all out of state companies are a bad thing, especially if like Aldi's they can provide decent quality food that meets peoples budgets and doesn't break the bank.

Don't know about RIH in particular, but since legalization happened last year there were new rules implemented about drug testing. For most jobs you are unable to drug test for cannabis unless working in a federal capacity, or certain other guidelines listed in the link below.

From what I have read Dollar General tends to target locations that are otherwise underserved by other stores within a couple of miles and try to open within walking distance for a majority of the area it serves. Thats why you will some times see a few in a single close location.

They do try to target low to middle class areas as that is where they have the most success.

Fearless is pretty excellent, Tony's seafood in Seekonk is really good, Dockside is good as well.

Dave's has some decent seafood as well depending on the location.

Captains Catch in Warwick and Providence are pretty decent as well. Just depends what you are looking for I guess.

Yeah, they oppose any sort of funding to assist the homeless, really anything that doesn't benefit them directly, when "liberals" try to offer solutions and address the issues they turn around and say drop them off in their backyards or why don't they take them in and that is the only solution they offer instead of putting forth an actual plan. This goes the same for just about anything they deem "progressive" or "socialist" program. No plan to address the issue except ignore it and hope it solves itself some how.

It is all socialism until they need it.

They tend to forget things like Police, Fire, Social Security(literally in the name), schools etc are all "social" programs.

Because I see and deal with people on bikes and cars not stopping at those stop signs all the time and have seen my fair share of pedestrians hit by cyclists, luckily only close calls with cars.

Sorry I assumed you didn't stop at a corner, but going by your description it was pretty far (relatively) from the corner as your post title suggested.

I am assuming they were not in a crosswalk then.

Was it at the corner? If so you should be stopping as there is a stop sign there. You are supposed to be following all traffic signs specifically to avoid these type of situations. Since you said it was the corner I am assuming you blew through the 4 way stop there.

Also stupid for the pedestrian to walk out from behind a car, but if it was that close to the corner(car was most likely parked where they shouldn't have been) they might have had no choice.

Yesterday morning... hours after the accident was cleared the traffic was backed up well into Swansea. Causing an hour long+ ride.

Combine this with all the stuff they see doing on 95 near the mall and the clusterfuck that is 146 and 6/10 every artery connected to Providence has a massive project going on. As well as changes to every alternate route. Can't avoid 195 properly as they have closed a small bridge that cuts off the only viable alternate route. This 195 project should have been worked on at the same time as the overpasses were being done. Instead they fucked up traffic for two years, let it be for six months then started working in the same area again.

Someone needs to start reviewing what is going on.

Edited to add: there is also major construction going on over on the red bridge as well.
