Yup. I'm a "transplant" to Maine, and that wasn't long after I moved here. I think they built the new store in Damariscotta, and shortly after, got bought up by Rite Aid.
Waltz's Pharmacy's space in Scottyville became part of Reny's when the Underground location expanded, but I think they still have a pharmacy in Waldoboro.
:The only constant is change," and all that, but I don't recall seeing anything that said I hafta like change.
Hoping to get picked for a role in Grumpiest Old Men, if someone decides to make a Part III. 8-D

Main Street Grocery in Damariscotta is probably always gonna be "Yellow Front" to some folks. (Myself included.)
But I don't remember it taking very long for anyone to stop calling Rite Aid "Laverdiere's (Pharmacy)." Now that it's Walgreen's, I still say Rite Aid from time to time, but maybe that's just old age creepin' up on me.
I bet someone with skill and the right software could add an 'H' to that photo. 8)

Beautiful.
I have some friends in NH who have both a summer camp and a relatively new (to them) "dream home," and Selina often uses the phrase "little slice of heaven" for both places.
I bet you've used that phrase a time or two.

I'm guessing you're kidding, given all the double-entendre comments above, but how about "Anyone who is 'proud to be the home of a Y chromosome' is probably also proud to have one"? (And not rreferring to the Jeep.)
XD

For somebody from Cyprus, maybe; P3 is one of their prefixes. US Ham calls begin with A, K, N, or W.

Way cool. Once again, I've learned something new without having to pry my skinny butt off the couch. Thanks to all those who contributed to my new knowledge of pseudoscorpions. (Which would make a good name for a cover band.)
And imagine my relief that it's not a mutated tick.

GPS has taken a lot of the fun out of the old "You can't get there from here" routine. ;-)

I was looking at my pics from the boat trip today on my phone, and noticed that the Cuckolds Light looked somehow "different" from other photos I've seen of it. Turns out we were passing on the opposite side of the islet from where all or most of those other pics were taken, and the keeper's house was between us and the tower. The light tower has a distinctive sort of semi-circular structure around the base of it that I think attaches to the house.
Looking at a page about lighthouses, one aerial view shows what I think is a helipad on the islet.
Wikipedia says the keeper's house was torn down some years back, but was later rebuilt and is now used for "pampered luxury" (the present owner's words) accommodations. That might have been where the wedding was.

Ram Island (minus the ledge) has a lighthouse, too. I think that one's a little more accessible. I don't think there's a helipad--or even a parking lot--on the island, but they might be able to land a helicopter there.
I had a chance to see it "in person" along with the Cuckolds light during a boat trip with some friends out of South Bristol in August. We took a cruise down to the Boothbay Harbor/Southport area. My first time on the water in years.

I don't think there was any record-breaking one at Pumpkinfest in Damariscotta this year, but the winner still weighed in at over 2,000 lbs.
I can only imagine getting the dang thang into the back of the truck.

That name was familiar. but I had to look him up to be sure. I seldom go to Portland.
One of the three that I've gotten letters from (all in a very distinctive style of window envelope), I never talked to on the phone. Another "cancer committee" that I hadn't heard of before sent something to the same fake name I gave the "volunteer firefighters PAC." All three use p.o. boxes in Waukesha, WI, or a nearby town. I figure it would take someone about an hour to make a round trip from whichever town they're based in, and pick up whatever might be in all three boxes.
I always tell the AI that I "don't do plastic," and they're happy to send out a donation letter so I can mail them a check. I hope they're not holding their breath while they wait for my check to arrive.
