Definitely not nearly as extensive as in years past, both in terms of lighting and music. But they certainly made sure all the money-making ventures (the trailer selling terrible $15 cocktails, all the gift shops/concession stands, stands selling light-up crap for kids) were open. In fact, I think that part has expanded.
I seem to recall at least some of the indoor exhibit buildings being open in past years but nothing was open this year.

MPD thinks active traffic enforcement is a poor use of resources, especially when their numbers are down and certain violent crimes are on the rise.
The Council thinks human traffic enforcement creates an inequitable environment.
And so here we are, with the city trying to traffic-camera its way to Vision Zero.

This is what you get when you combine minimal human enforcement with minimal consequences (i.e., Maryland/Virginia drivers have no reason to pay camera tickets and thus zero reason to care about cameras, DC residents can renew their driver's licenses even with thousands of dollars of dangerous moving violations on their records, a comically understaffed city boot team).
The people who have created and enthusiastically support the status quo keep getting re-elected (well, except for Silverman), so nothing will change.

Reply to Neighborhoods with good elementary schools by caternicus
There are a host of older apartment buildings on Connecticut Avenue northward from Woodley Park that all are inbounds for good elementary schools: Eaton, Hearst, Murch.
And despite what one poster wrote, if you live within the boundaries of those schools you do not have to worry about the lottery for kindergarten and up. You simply have to enroll. The lottery is for families that want to go to schools outside their boundary or to charters.

If the car is registered in someone else's name in another state, you have to pay the excise tax when you register it in DC if the name on the title is changing. It doesn't matter if it's a family member. The family member tax exemption only applies when it's changing ownership between two DC residents.
If the car is already in your name when you register it in DC, you don't pay the excise tax.
