it’s irritating. i commented on a post the other day saying basically “rest, recoup, reset” and said how it was funny the post that sanctioning doing nothing was the only one met with approval here. How demotivating.

I’m guessing that’s commentary on me?
I’m a millennial and I inherited no generational wealth, or wealth of any kind. I grew up in a trailer and dropped out of high school, then skipped college. Then i fucked around for 5 years doing nothing. Then I found a job i liked, poured myself into it, and started my own company. It wasn’t given to me, I constantly struggle with motivation. You know what doesn’t, and never would have, motivated me? Quotes like this. The only thing I ever needed to be told was get off my ass and make something happen; but the average r/getmotivated user would describe that sentiment as…. well just look at the typical comments on any given post here.
Most people are just fucking lazy and make bad decisions. Then blame it on capitalism, boomers, etc etc.

i think it just speaks to the nature of the common redditor.

I think it’s funny that the one post on here i see people get behind and not immediately go “yeeeeah BUT” is also a post that gives you an excuse to do nothing.

This helped me a lot, I’m sure I saw it somewhere on here:
Do the FIRST step of what you need to do, just commit to that BASIC thing. If it’s working on the car, get all the tools you need together. If it’s computer work, get the desk clean and programs open and on the right page. If it’s cooking, just get the ingredients out. Then sit back down, obligation fulfilled.
The funny part is that I never actually sit back down. With everything started, and right there ready to go, it’s easy enough to just keep going. But I never could have started had i not set myself such a small goal to complete.

this is also what the guy said in Alien Covenant when infecting the sleeping crew with Xenomorphs.
I like the sentiment I just get the Fassbender creeps when i hear it.

I had to go buy all new lights this year. The colored led christmas lights are weirdly different and don’t feel right. Anyone else?

Be a mess then. Be whatever you want to be. But understand that isn’t beautiful to many. This whole “accept me as I am AND APPRECIATE it!!” attitude is irritating. You don’t always get both.
