I wish I can share the optimism you have about current state of Korea. All the good things that you listed above have been going on for last several years and I sure hope they continue, but imho Korea is going down fast, real fast. I only wish I am being needlessly pessimistic but to me it's Trump all over again in Korea (US was big enough to "recover" from T but S. Korea is definitely not)

I never understand why the president is given the pardoning power. So subjective and what's the point of going through all the troubles to send the criminals behind the bars in the first place. And only those high-profile and connected and thus less deserving ones get pardonded anyway.
